INCLINE BENCH WITH DUMBELLS

you can say whoever built a great chest by doing whatever......... but they started with flat barbell........ period

Try incline cable flyes! They fucking rock. You get the most stress on your muscles at the contracted position, unlike normal db flyes. Great pump :D

MONSTAR

dont give up on incline.

try THEM with dumbells and see if you like them best!?!?!?

just and idea

After Viewing Results

Well after viewing results of poll, had to reply since the majority voted for flat db presses. Any incline movement is far superior to a flat movement. db incline press or barbell incline press better than any flat movement. anyone that lifts and competes and is successful will tell you that 70% of your chest work should be incline movements and they would be correctamundo~~

TheGame,
Thats wierd, I've always felt that incline uses too much delts to fully isolate the pecs. I find the decline takes a lot of the shoulders out of the exercise, although I'm still a fan of the flat bench pressing.

Like exodus said everyone built what they have by starting off with the barbell bench. However, I would have to vote for staright bench DB's, more of a stretch, and unlike incline DB's, there is less emphasis on your delts.

TheGame2001-
You must be confused bro.. I used to swear by inclines too for thickening up my pecs but theyre simply more of a delt press rather then a pec press.. stick to flat and decline movements bro.

:cool::cool:

Incline Barbell, they bring into effect exclusively your upper chest, and do some type of decline fly as a finish to get the rounded look.

Here is the way I see it. Incline movements are better because your chest is angled when viewed from the side. On an incline bench your chest is parallel to the floor so is stimulated better.

here's what i have to say on this:

I did decline bench w/straight bar, decline fly's, and flat bench fly's and my chest was screaming when i was done. i have never felt that much of a burn before, i wonder why i never did decline work before. my routine for the next few weeks will consist mostly of decline work, incline aggrevates my shoulder too much (tendonitis) and flat bench well i'm just a pussy cause i think i'll drop the weight on myself. LOL, just kidding, i did all flat bench work before so time to flip it up.

Then they arent being done correctly. The incline should be no more that 30%

This surprises the shit out of me to see "Dumbell Flyes" rated so low in this poll. It's not #1, but it could easily be in the #2 slot.

Sure, bench presses give me a solid chest base ...but nothing brings out the outer sides of my pecs more than the flyes. You can feel them tearing at your pec muscles and you have more control on the amount of reps you can do.

Bench press may rule, ...but aesthetically, I think flyes will add a more dramatic shape to your pecs regardless of your pec size.

If we're going to talk 'chest' let's look at one of the best chests of all time (hard to argue Arnold had a great chest). Here's what his chest workout looked like....I think variety is always key in building a great chest.

I like INCLINE and FLATBENCH DB presses.

For me, I get the best burn on the pec deck. If I didn't have that machine, I'd go with incline & decline (and flat) dumbell flys. Barbell press is great, but for me, it doesn't isolate the pecs as well as flys, and my delts & triceps will exhaust before the pecs do, so I can't get my pecs to exhaustion with the barbell. Barbell bench pressing is also in my routine, but if I have to cut a workout short, I'll give up the bench but do the pec deck that day.

LMAO!!!

My chest routine at the moment is simply Flat DB, Incline BB, Dips. Maybe a set or two of Incline Flyes to finish off. Seems to be working well, I love going heavy on the flat DB press.

deep dips and flat DB Presses if we're talking about chest size

deep dips and flat BB presses if we're talking about chest strength
