best bodybuilder routines for prep?

I’m gonna do a mock prep for a bodybuilding contest coming up in around 8 weeks. What is your advice on traning for this? I do NOT plan on attending it even though I signed up, but I will pretend like I will. Should I focus on high reps and low weights? Or should I pull a Ronnie Coleman and just go and lift heavy as hell for the next 8 weeks?

I would also be doing a lot of cardio. You want to do a preparation and cardio will be the key. You burn extra calories.

Definitely, the more conditioning you can get in the better. I would stick to 5 or 6 days a week. That would work good.

highly recommend you do 5x a week. don't over train 6-7x a week. that is too much!

I've found incorporating a mix of low reps with heavier weights helps when strategically balanced with higher reps and lighter weights. Using a 1RM calculator has been great for me to estimate my maxes without risking injury. Based on these estimates, I've been able to adjust my splits to target strength and hypertrophy better. It's crucial to keep tweaking and listening to your body.

What rep ranges are you usually working with? I've been liking a mix of heavy sets and high-rep pump work lately.

Neither the previous post or yours are prep specific.

To the OP - what ever worked before works in a prep. Which the two previous posts allude to. Key is to

1) focus on bringing up weak points
2) Diet must be on point
3) Adjust load IF NEED BE as you get into the last few weeks (more chance of injury)
