Beginner & Hardcore Gym

I am a F beginner have been working out for the last 3 months. I am interested more in weight training, I need the motivation but I don't find it much in those regular Gyms. most of the trainers don't show you much , they discourage you for weight training. But in hardcore Gyms U find mostly big guys and women . R They usually keen to help a new beginner. I know it must be a silly question but still. a bodybuilder trainer would easily understand that U can change your body shape with the weight traning.
Thanks Guys;)

It depends on the people in a particular gym, but if you're serious, and they've seen you coming for awhile and working hard, then most serious bodybuilders are happy to help a beginner. Just don't go in the first day and expect them to spend much time with you. They go to a hard core gym to work out, not talk, so if you do strike up a conversation, keep it short - they'll love you for that and be more willing to share their knowledge again. If you talk their ear off, they'll go out of their way to avoid getting cornered next time.

As long as you have good gym etiquette - stay out of people's way, don't talk to people in the middle of their set, don't leave your stuff on equipment you're not using, etc., then you should be fine.

Overall, I find the hard-core people a lot nicer (and more humble!) than some of the average-looking folks at regular gyms who strut around like they're hot stuff, exercise their jaws more than their bodies, talk on cell phones, etc. I know what you mean about a lot of the "trainers" in regular gyms. I wish my gym were a little more hard core. They're plenty of hard core men, but most of the women are pure cardio jockeys who rarely venture in the free weight area. :bawling:

Yes I understand that part. Ohhh I wouldn't want to get on the way of any of them:eek:
I was refering more to personal trainer who work there, they just don't encourage you even if that is what u want. I even had a one 2 one but he just kept going no,no U have to work out all your body parts for say 4-6 months. I am not soo overweight BF 22%
So I am thinking of switching Gym to a bit of more hardcore one. I have a 6 month goal to get lean and defined

I think he may have had a valid point regarding beginners needing to work a whole body routine before moving into a hardcore targeted routine. I don't know your physical shape, but you must prepare your muscles and connective tissue to be ready to handle heavy loads. That could take 6 months if you have never lifted before.

As for getting help from the other lifters. Only ask them questions while they are resting between sets. I find they are willing to answer your questions and then show you in the next set...

Don't question them about something they tell you. If you don't buy what they are saying, simply ignore the advice. Stay away from anyone wearing a wife beater to the Gym.... :D

Enjoy

throw yourself in at the deepend, just dont be intimidated, go at your own pace

i used to goto a really poor gym, it only had half what i needed and people used to look at me all weird because i was doing exercises they would never do, like shrugs and deadlifts

i quit that gym and found a super hardcore one, its got everything i could ever need and whats more its brand new, the free weight area is always empty, its awesome

dont go for half measures, goto a hardcore gym

chances are people will help you if they see you are dedicated and have the right attitude towards them, training and your enviroment
