Beck is awesome

That song Scarecrow from his Guero album is freaky......and so is Broken Drum; great songs to listen to when driving at night.

He's one of the few truly original artists playing today.


Anyone else know of some freaky/disturbing sounding songs, post them up!! (I'm talking instrumental, not lyrically disturbing- that's too easy).

I'll second that! Definitely has his own sound. I like The Pixies and Frank Black's solo stuff for the same reasons.

Broken Drum......how can such a simple song be so enthralling, almost hypnotic? And with the crunchy distortion at its conclusion to snap you back to reality........that's the definition of artistic mastery.

I saw Beck in the fall of 1998 at my college in Oxford, OH. Atari Teenage Fan Club opened for him along with the Roots. Outside of Better Than Ezra, best live show ever.

I actually think his new album is my least favorite of any of his albums, but I appear to be in the minority on the board at least. Not to say it sucks balls, because I'm not saying that, I just think his other stuff is a lot better. And that includes Sea Change and Mutations.

Plus, there are a lot of original artists out there, they just might not be on the radio all the time.
