Ballys pay

I just got hired on at Ballys here in SA Texas. I got a membership 3months ago and started tearing up the gym and meeting all the staff and sort of infiltrated the whole staff. I was persistant with the fitness manager so after a group interview and then interview with the district manager, I was hired. Im in the midst of getting my NASM. So I was hired without a cert. Sell LEVEL 3 packages and up.. more $

ballys has some brass ones. its crazy how they hire non experienced trainers, charge insane fees for trainers, then only pay the new trainer 15.00 per hour. their charging hundreds lol. i went into one for a free trial while i was away on vacation for a free gym to w/o in for the wk and read their training packages and almost fell on the floor laughing. but they actually had people training. in fact the guys where walking around talking to eachother hanging out while they each had a couple clients at the same time doing bad lifts not being watched.

Working in all healthclubs suck - I'd advice anyone to get out and start training on your own, and force yourself to learn the marketing aspect of it on the fly - the best on the job business education you'll ever get.

That being said, of all the large commercials, Bally's is probably the best place to work in. Their consultation pay is better than LA Fitness' hourly wages. And yes, their highest tier training pay can go to $40 and above if you're running group sessions.

But let's get it straight - the job is all sales - not even worth mastering how to train in a gym scenario - just get some experience and do it on your own.

Man, I had a really popular blog post last year all about the situations in the major health clubs - I got a lot of the info from forums - if anyone has some really bad stories, maybe I'll do a part 2 -

Here's the post:

Personal Training Jobs

i'm a personal trainoer Bally's and i have to say yes they're trainers there who have no business training people. Its a great place to train people i find. Well the one i work at is i think one of the biggest ones in the country. Our prices vary's from experience to least experience. I make between 15-35 an hour over there and its more about being a salmon than training. I've seen great trainers train people but where terrible salesmen and those are the one who cant make it here. I'm blessed with both, and people love me
