for some reason everytime I do squats my upper back gets strained maybe once every two weeks what could be causeing upper back pain any help would be much appreciated
Make sure you keep your back straight and don't hunch foward. If u are not sure about the hunching...try looking at the ceiling while squatting...helps a bit. Are you wrapping the bar with something? Like a towel or pad. It may be bruising u. Lastly u may need to strengthen you back with barbell rows especially.
If it's in your mid-back, it's more than likely muscle soreness from your rhomboids. They are necessary in stabilizing the shoulder girdle upon which the bar rests when you squat.
That is exactly where it hurts!!! in the midle of the back what should I do to strengthen this and prevent the soreness that acompanies me for 3 days after squat?
I notice if I'm not "squatting through my heels" I experience the same strain in my back, like phreak said look up to the ceiling and push through your heels. Let us know how your back is next leg session...
Thanks for all the info guys I'm definately going to implement these changes in the next session, because today my back is fricken killing me I think I may even strained my lower back when I was trying 335 and it rode me down to the rails and my spotter just stood there like a moron anyways thanks guys.
