Back to the HEAVY IRON after LASIK?

Hey bro ~

Welcome to the flap and zap club. I had Lasik done twice, Oct of 03 and this past December (I needed an enhancement).

I was good for a light workout 3 days post surgery and a full blown screaming workout a week post surgery. You will be hypersensitive of your eyes, but execertion will not give you any problems.

Use your drops, make sure you go to the follow up visits, and don't worry too much about short term sides like glare and halos, they will pass.

Good luck,

Bluesman

Anyone here had LASIK done? I had it Monday and all went well. I'm just a little nervous about pushing it too heavy too soon after surgery. Any advice? Thanks in advance...

By the way, my vision went from 20/800 in both eyes to 20/15! Better than 20/20! Loving it now that the surgery part is done :)

What's up BBU? Long time.

Hey I've been thinking about lasik for some time now. Would you mind PMing me with what you paid? I know that's a little cheezy to ask, but I'm trying to get an idea of the costs involved.

Thanks!

I was lifting in the rack next to a guy who pushed his squats too hard right after surgery. The procedure temporarily weakened the eye structure and his eyes blew out of his head right in mid squat. His eyeballs shot out and hit the mirror with this huge popping noise - optic nerves were still attached just hanging out of the sockets. He lets out this piercing scream and drops to the ground. The 500 on his back came down on top of him driving him into the floor. Broke a hip and both arms. The worst part was he must have racked his mouth on the mat and bit through part of his tounge which was just laying there in a pool of drool and blood. I was like, "Damn, that guy's havin' a bad day."

Sorry man, I couldn't resist messing around with the worst case scenario. Congrats on your surgery, I've been thinking about it for years. I'd listen to Steve's advice. Give it a week before you do anything that involves major pushing/pulling to let it heal and not allow the internal pressure from lifting to push on your eyes and I'd imagine you are good to go. I rarely bother to screw around with jokes but I got this image in my head when I read your post and I couldn't not share it.

Bluesman, thanks a lot for the advice man. I am being ULTRA careful with the whole healing process. Just a little "glare" now but it gets better every day. Flap and Zap club - I love it!

Gymtime - good to hear from you man, it has been a while. Just been SO busy lately I dont get a chance to post much anymore. Working for Jeff Everson and Planet Muscle pretty steady now as well as my clothing line. Seen my ads in MD?

Anyways, I dont mind posting that it was $2500 for both eyes and all follow up care or even a 2nd surgery had I required it. Really research your doc and dont be afraid to ask, ask, ask questions. My guy has done 10 of his own family members and I even researched any lawsuits against him. nada.

Good luck if you decide to go for it, a 20-minute procedure really. Pretty amazing stuff!

BASTARD! haha. Thats exactly what I'm afraid of...haha! Would make a good MuscleHedz cartoon though, eh?
:p

I had LASIK 12 days ago. I took one week off from the gym, my concern was sweating in my eyes and it screwing up something. When I went back I lifted balls to the walls, no problems. If you're careful about what gets in them, I'd say no problems. Heck, I still haven't washed my hair because I'm paranoid about f'ing something up. Won't rub/touch them either. But I tell ya, they've felt 100% normal starting 24 hours post-op.
