B5

Hi ladies, new here, but not to the fitness world. Figure competitor. :rainbow:

My question- for acne prevention/treatment, how much B5 is needed daily?

Hmmm not sure...on of the girls should know......HEY SASSY.....lol Welcome to EF by the way!

If I feel esp a deep pimple coming (usually around that time of the month) -- I'll load like 4 tabs in the morning & then later in the day maybe 2 caps. I start to see results right away & may run at that dose for a couple of days and then if I'm in comp prep, el.g. lots of sweating & unloadign of toxins then I may run just the regular dose on the bottle until the show.

I just looked up about B5 re: how much is too much - I've never had any reaction to loading for a few days.

Here's a quick run down from my "Prescription for Nutritional Healing" book:

Vit B5 (Pantothenic Acid):

Known as the "anti-stress vitamin", pantothenic acide play s role in the production of the adrenal hormones & formation of antibodies, aids in vitamin utilization, and helps to convert fats, carbs, and proteins to energy. It is required by all cell in the body and is concentrated in the organs. It is also involved in the production of neurotransmitters. This vitamin is an essential element of coenzyme A, a vital body chemical involved in many necessary metabolic functions. Pantothenic acid is also a stamina enhancer and prevents certain forms of anemia. It is needed for normal functioning of the gastrointestinal tract and may be helpful in treating depression & anxiety. A deficiency of pantothenic acid may cause fatigue, headache, nausea and tingling in the hands.

Sources:
The following foods contain B5: beef, brewer's yeast, eggs, fresh vegetables, kidney, legumes, liver, mushrooms, nuts, pork, royal jelly, saltwater fish, tortula yeast, whole rye flour, whole wheat.

Needed to assimilate B5: Vit B Complex, vit A, C & E.
-> I.e. I'd probably make sure to take a good mult-vit w/ a B5 load as well. Though I take a multi all the time anyway.
