Our own geek thread. ;)

I'm not looking to build a collection for the sake of $. I just like reading them. Some of the older story lines in X-men are pretty interesting considering the global issues of that time.

D if you can go out and buy the last 2 issues of Excalibur and then get in on House of M (it came out this week and will be a summer long event that will actually alter the marvel universe) I'm sure you will enjoy, X-Men are heavily involved (no gambit though)

Also for anyone that wants a good series, try and find all the issues of New Avengers (only 5 so far) and Astonishing X-Men, they are AWESOME

THe premise is that last year the Scarlet Witch went insane, killed some avengers and ruined the team, and Magneto eventually came and took her away to Genosha to try and get her healthy again with Prof X's help. Anywhoo in House of M she is going nuts again and starting to alter reality you'd really have to read it to get it, but its good

Thanks for the tip. Even without Gambit I'm sure it'll be worth reading.

if for nothing but the artwork :)

Have you aquired the original Phoenix and Dark Phoenix stuff? (going off you said youw ere going for the old issues) just wondering what you have so far

my favourite artwork in a comic book is probably from the aria and aria/angela series...very few issues...there were some early variant types in just black and white...and they look amazing. but i love b&w pencil the most.

I really enjoy the art in Amazing Spiderman (Deodato) New Avengers (Finch) Astonishing X-Men (Cassiday I think) and a few others

I really like the extreme detail appraoch some of the artists take nowadays as opposed to the overly cartoony art of the past (which was great also don't get me wrong)

DC has some good art too but I really don't get into DC much, not a superman fan and the rest I dunno, I like Batman but not most of his Rogue Gallery

Ive gotten some recent Green Lantern stuff though, pretty cool story recently

All of the copies I have involve the Phoenix storyline. I'll have to dig them out of the garage when the weather clears and let you know which numbers they are. Most of them are beat up in appearance, but all of the pages are there, there's no moisture damage on any of them and they were cheap. :)

My father thinks he might still have a few original copies of The Shadow hidden in a box at his mother's place. I know The Shadow isn't as popular today, but they still would be worth having for the artwork, as you said.

a new Phoenix arc was just put out last couple of months "Phoenix Endsong" a trade paperback should be out any day now on that, its got amazing artwork in it, the charactes are gorgeous and its a good read

I've only ever seen the movie The Shadow never looked at any of the comics
lol and why is it you rule today Shadow? I thought your SN was after your dog not the comic character (could be wrong lol)
