audi a4 vs bmw 325is pick one

the interior of the a4 is nicer IMO, more ergonomic, and if you get it with quattro then it is better in bad weather than the RWD bmw.
the a4 is slightly underpowered at the default level, but a nice ride.
can say the same for the 325 - but the 330s are nice, but the new ones have sloppier steering.

if you get the audi, then you aren't another one of those BMW assholes ;)
 
The Bemer, there is no contest. Yes I own one, but still there is no contest. If an audi was an all around better car I would of gotten an audi. No car company combines luxury and perfromance like Bavarian Motor Works. My 3 series is a 2000, CI model(coupe), I have had no probs with it at all, seems to be just getting better in my opinion. Go with the BMW. peace
 
I must respectfully and totally disagree with Happys statement about the interior, thats the best part of a bemer, like I said, no other car company combines luxury and performance like BMW, only other car that can match the bmdubs interior is some of the Mercedes' out there.
 
I thought it was Bayerische Motoren Werke (something like that) or Buyers Motor Factory in English. Werke being understood as factory, but then again I have a lost a lot of my German.
 
A4. No doubts. Especially if you live in a place like canada and you have those shitty winters. I would even pick the Mercedes C230 before the BMW. BMW cars are over-ratted....
 
I've been in every BMW other than the z8 and I've been in all the audis.
it's all a personal preference - go test drive them both and see what you like.

I personally wouldn't go for either the base a4 nor the 325 - but if you are looking at the higher performance a4 with quattro as well, or at the 330 (or M3/s4 duh), then it becomes a more interesting choice.

but yeah, without test driving, then you are just doing it for the name and the look which... well, then makes you one of the assholes ;) hi ham hock - not saying you are an asshole :D
 
Also, I should note that I looked at the BMWs and the Audis - was thinking of getting one - but up here, there are certain types that drive them - and the combination of not liking the ergonomics of either of them (but especially not the BMW) and the attitude of people that get them (status symbols) - I went with a different choice and love it.

its all personal preference - enjoy whatever you get
 
i like the a4 it looks better in my opinion,but i have never driven one so i can't say,my uncles 325 is a sweet ride though and he has let me drive it a few times
 
I've considered both - and bought the BMW.

I have the last of the boxy styles and the last of the 328i's and I will drive this car until the day it can no more. I truly LOVE this car and have yet to have a single mechanical or computer chip problem.

Yet, that's not to say the Audi is not an equally as worthy car - you have to decide which YOU are more comfortable in and which offers you the options you desire most.
 
It depends on what you like in a car.

Do you prefer handling, straight line acceleration, luxury ride, etc. I think the A4 1.8T Quattro is an excellent car with lots of grip and can be easily modified. A little costly when you factor in the cost of a new turbo setup but I don't think the beamer has as many aftermarket modifications available. If you compare the 330 and the A4 then take the 330.

If you're talking about a better engine and reputation, go BMW.
If you're talking about driving the same thing as every other yuppie on the road, go BMW.
 
Back in the day, my wife brought me home a 1995 325i. I still have it and at 76000 miles, it's still a blast to drive. I'd only get rid of it for another.

I own a 2002 A4 3.0 quattro, 6 spd, and I'm very happy.

I don't blame anyone who prefers the BMW interior to the Audi. It's a matter of taste - to me the Audi A4s are more German and the BMW 3 series are more Americanized.

And to whoever it was who said he lumps Audis with Volvos and whatever, bite me. I'll meet you on the broad white line anywhere, anytime.

Yup- S4! Or if you have the money wait for the RS4 to come to the states. It is a beast and will run with the Ferrari Modena. Audi is so much nicer in my opinion. Everyone has Beemers, they are nice but.....Audi is classier and can be made very fast just like the M3. Audi is the sweetest 4 door around in my opinion. Go for a silver S4, drop it, rims,tint,system,chip it,intake and exhaust and you'll have a tight little racer that will haul serious ass!

whoa just in time!!! i wrote this back in january when i was pushing a fucked up vw:( as a matter of fact i picked up the check from the lending bank TODAY and will be picking up my new bimmer on monday

i may throw these wheels on it

On a side note: There is a Turbo kit for the Neon that will make a Neon eat an M3 in 0-60 as well as the 1/4 mile. That is kinda nifty if you ask me. The stage V kit will put a Neon in the 10.5 range in the 1/4.

Before I bought my first BIMMER . . I researched a bunch of cars. BMW has been in Car & Drivers 10 best list longer than most of us have been driving. I can tell you the Lexus IS 300, Audi's A4 did not even come close to performance, handling and sheer comfort. I ordered a 330CI with all the Bells and do not regret it one bit. There is no other car that can come close to what the germans (AT BMW) have done. The lexus is sloppy handling with little speed. The Audi handles like an old ford truck. The bimmer can take em all in just about every aspect.

BMW is the ULTIMATE DRIVING MACHINE. I would never thought myself to be a bimmer person. But I am hooked now.
P.S. A friend of mine is getting rid of his Audi for a Bimmer.

Even if this is true! That neon could not handle the speed. Sheer speed is not the only important issue. Although the M3 is the fastest sports sedan - it handles like a race car. I have not bit the bullet and bought one. I love my 330Ci, but I love the speed of the M3s. I have test driven the new M3 with the Killer Transmission. Read about it! It will blow you away.

So, my friend, your 330CI: an automatic or standard?
 
I'm pimpin my droptop Pacer with 2-inch whitewalls.....I even took Nature Boy for a ride when he came to Dallas.

I encountered a slight problem when I pulled up for valet, I couldn't find my WD-40 to get the roof up. So, we had to let those assholes park and chill in my shit, experience the ambiance of ma ride:D
 
specter - I have the Steptronic Auto Tranny!

I was looking for comfort and performance. I like being able to downshift. Not as cool as a standard, but it will do the trick. I also love the Xenon lights.

WHAT?????? You had to have driven a Fronttrak rather than a Quattro. You have to be the first person in history to complain about the handling of an Audi. Every automobile publication in the world touts Audi's handling as some of the best available at any price level.
 
if you are looking at the a4 with a bigger engine than the 1.8t then it may be OK.

I think the BMW is a better choice. I have not driven a nicer car to this day. BMW has a little better quality than audi as well, as far as engineering goes.
 
my mother has a 325i bmw convertible- i love it. i got to drive it for like 3 months after the 'rents sold my car. great pick up. i street raced an audi on it once (no joke) i won, although i hate to admit it but they could handle the beamer, when most cars i just smoke.

my brother owned one. It had a 1.0 L engine, which is comparable to a good lawnmower.

On a side note, it was inexpensive & got good gas mileage (48 mpg). But with the new hybrid cars coming out i would rather have one of those than a metro if i wanted MPG value & a low price.

My aunt has a new A4. Great car but not as cool as the BMW. I just got a 325CI and I love it.

Every time I see a 330 I key the damn thing because I am so fucking jealous of the extra hp and cool M3 wheels.

Everytime I see an M3 I cry.
