That will never happen since once the goobermint starts giving people institutionalized handouts they cant take it back. Plus its the government so it has a built in fuck up mechanism that prevents any meaningful reform. So assuming there will be equal amount of pot smokers as there are alcoholics who abuse the social safety net, we should err on the side of freedom, or freedom should be the default setting. Theres always going to be a certain percentage of subtance abusers that take advantage of the social safety nets. The government is much too large and inefficient to prevent that sort of thing. We cant be logical or consistent while allowing alcohol to be legal and alcoholics on the safety net while less harmful drugs are not even legal. We have freedom to choose first, until theres compelling evidence that outweighs that freedom.
