Arm Wrestling

New member
How is it that I can bench/curl/lift more than my friend but he can still destroy me at arm wrestling? Granted hes shorter than me but i dont think leverage would be that much of a factor...what can be done to increase strength in arm wresting?

tendons in your arm, making them stronger will make you better in arm wrestling. benchpressing has nothing to do with it. and having a taller arm gives you an advantage. just think about it, the center of gravity is in a different place then a guy with a shorter arm.

Wouldn't recommend arm wrestling on a regular basis. I've seen about 4 different people break their arms while arm wrestling...and they were all bodybuilders. Ego is a nasty thing, inside of training and out. What these fools failed to realize is that tendon strength is very important (most bb's only train their muscles not their tendons). You can build up the thickest heaviest door in the world, but it's only as stable as the hinges it rests on.

You want to do more static holds and natural resistance techniques. Go to the Martial Arts forum, I'm sure they can tell you all about that type of training. The basis for their quick explosive movements is around tendon strength.

regularly, i do cheat curls, with 3-4 negatives at the end of the set. strong delts and triceps are good too, your bi helps the most when your losing.

1) Shorter arms are better. Basic physics. Your arm is a third class lever; the farther out the weight is applied the more force necessary to move it.

2) Work your internal rotators. It's the opposite of your rotator cuffs.
