Arm training questions???

Who here who has been training for a number of years has experimented with arm training volume?
What I mean is has anyone tried really 'undertraining' their arms and gained growth and has anyone tried like training them 2-3 times a weeks and 'overtraining' them and grown?
I myself train them once per week but they just don't want to grow.
I have been reading that some people have recommended hitting them 3 times a week (or maybe even more) and got great gains.
Now this kind of flies in the face of everything I have practiced over the last 10 years or so. But perhaps there is some truth to it.
I have tried cutting my arm training down and found they didn't just stop growing - they started to decrease and consequently I lost alot of strength too.
So anybody given the more is better approach a go? and what happened?

post your current arm routine and maybe we can help. my arms have always grown better from a "less sets more weight" type of approach - and only once a week. currently only do 2 exercises for bi/tri with only 1 working set of rest/pause
