Are there ways to combat keto breath?

I don't think you can do anything to eliminate it. You can do something to cover it up though.

Just brush your teeth after every meal ,, it sorta works for me

the taste is putrid. I get a very distinct gross taste when i first wake up

It is ketones, they smell like acetone.

I have a lot of 500mg ALA caps and they are more potent than anything I have ever had. They put me into ketosis so fast. My girlfriend can tell each time I take one.
