Are negatives good for growth?

I do a slow (evil) negative on the last set of all my 5X5's (and just about any set of anything, last rep) and it really seems to make a difference. More DOMS the next day. More gains overall IMHO.

I know guys who do lots of reps with negs, and I don't see any substantial difference between them and other "regular" programs such as 5X5, pyramids, straight sets, etc. I think the program itself works first and the negs are suplemental/beneficial to it.

But I'm as full of shit as the next guy so take it for what it's worth.

Nice!:D

I have done them in the past when I was younger, and I guess they have their place but from experience if you are a dumba$$ (which I was) they will definately jack up your recovery and cause you to go stagnant real quick...

I have had some interesting spurts of growth in otherwise stubborn muscles by combining negative-only dropsets with moderate AAS use.

AAS use with "normal" training has never produced the same results for the stubborn areas, and I have done this on more than one cycle.

For me, when all things are in their proper place, eccentrics can be used to take my growth (and ONLY my growth- not my strength) up a notch.

My dropsets started at 130-150% of my 1RM if you care to try it. I also increased load from workout to workout.

Be very, very careful if you do attempt this. I have not suffered an injury, but the potential for it is there.
