are keto diets recommended?

in 2002 (or so), this diet was very popular among the BBing forums. fast forward to today, you hardly see this diet.

at 30 years of age, my bf% has gone up to 20 and i desperately need to get it back down (at least 10). i have had great success with normal diets (low carbs, high protein) in my early 20s but havent stuck to a good diet recently. i am looking into CKD to lose my BF. can i really eat foods like pepperoni, bacon, pork rinds, etc and still lose BF? any help is appreciated

Hell yeah you can, all you have to watch is that you're burning more calories than you consume, that's really all that matters. Though, it may not be the healthiest way to go, but you will lose the weight.

I'm guessing that by choosing a diet you want to lose weight so you can be healthier. Of those foods listed not one is considered healthy, at least not in my book. Not to mention all but the pork rinds have added sugar and nitrites, so they would not be good on a CKD diet unless in very low quantity.

If you want to do CKD you should do it the right way. Get the majority of your fat from good sources: olive oil, fish, chicken, eggs, etc..

What you could do is start off with a balanced diet, cut out 500 calories a day from your maintenance calories and give it a month or so. Then once your good and strict with a diet routine you could try jumping into something more advanced like CKD.

If your really set on this, check out www.c-k-d.com. There is some useful info there, good foods to eat and diet plans. There is also a great abundance of invaluable information on these boards, the guys here really know their stuff.

Good luck with whatever diet you choose, at least by deciding on any diet your on the right path to getting back in shape.
