Michigan's engineering program supposedly rocks - as does the school...

but it is expensive as hell to go there if you are out of state...

you probably do have the grades/scores to get in tho...

i have the scores maybe not the grades, i have taken only the absolute hardest classes possible and have doubled up on sciences and am a year ahead and math, so i have taht going for me as well. i might actually right my essays and my devotion to my body building and self improvement as it helps me become a better person and i strife for perfection in all aspects of my life physical and mental, think an admissions officer would eat that shit up. i only have to write a 2 paragraph personal statement so i think i could do taht quite easily with hwat i have said above, waht do u think?

No offence, but there is no chance in hell that you can get into an Ivy or HYP with those grades and SATs. A good school, yes. But not a top university.

Check out the discussion board College Confidential for information or advice. You can post your stats there to get some opinions on what your relative chances are at your choice schools.

Besides, unless your parents are quite wealthy, top level uni's aren't necessarily worth their money. At least that is how I rationalize myself not being at a better school. $35k/y adds up after four or five years.

I would suggest not worrying so much in where you choose for undergrad. If or when you decide to further your education beyond that point, then look at some higher-level uni's. Grad school is far more important.

word, 'top' was a very generalized term to use. a 1400 will get you into lower tier ivy league schools, but most likely not with your GPA.

he should have no problem getting into a top 30 university, granted his admissions essay is strong.

good lookin' on the link

samoth, mind if i ask which school you attend?

In my profile... University of Wisconsin Oshkosh.

I'm transferring out of state soon, though. I need to go to a bigger school that offers more classes for one of my majors.

I agree with the above, especially if you have taken AP calc, physics, etc by the time you are done, you have a good shot...

Of course I would apply to a selection of very good, good and fair universities to balance out just in case...

sounds like a good admission essay to me... most kids dont do shit...

anything is a good topic - it is the fact "can you draw them in" and make them believe with it is more important than the exact idea...
