I was wondering through the magazines at the store and was looking at some muscle mags and i saw a magazine called "Fitness" anyone see the August issue??? It is so SAD and pathetic! There is a picture of a skeleton on the cover with a bikini on...and all kinds of big advertisements for getting in shape etc....i mean this chick is TINY like anorexic...NO MEAT on this chicks bones..and it is a fitness magazine???? What kind of message does that send girls..and women about healthy fitness?? There was no muscle tone to her, barely any skin for that matter. I am not saying she had to be a big muscular chick like Vicki Gates or Lesa Lewis but this is sending the WRONG message out to the general public, to those who are uneducated and are looking to learn about becoming healthy and fit etc. Women look up to these cover girls and to be on Vogue is one thing but when it is a fitness magazine...that is so sad!!!! I just saw it and had to share! A woman like Monica Brant should be on the cover, not Karen Carpenter!!!!!

You said it all N@GB... sad & pathetic. Definitely sends the wrong message. The pics conflict with the mag title & articles.
Girls see these pics & think..."look how thin she is... and she's on the cover!"
Perhaps we need an 'Elite' mag showing fit & healthy = shapely & strong?? :D

I just saw this!@ What is up with these magazines--even a few years ago the models looked a little more built. Today everyone looks like a noodle--even on the health and fitness mags.

you think that's bad... in muscle and fitness hers i actually read that one of the quailties of a good diet is that it is not OVER 1200 calories... i sure hope that that was a typo!!!!

1200 CALORIES????? Cmon now whats a gal to eat on that!!!

Oh I hear ya ladies !!!

Just my two pennies...

Do you know how many times i've thought exactly the same thing about magazines, especially muscle mag.

It used to be great, but now:-

a. It's practically a frigging marketing forum for Muscletech, you think you're reading a decent article and then realise it's just another 4 page spread for Hydroxycut. Damn! that pisses me off.

b. As far as the girs issues are concerned they always have these swimsuit pullouts issue after issue of women who look like everbody else, I'm not suggesting theat every page should contain an Andrulla, or a Valentina. But all the ones featured are skinny, and they are in a 'muscle mag' bullshit, why don't they callit 'Beauty Pageant Mag'.

It pisses me off.

I feel better now, even though I'm riddled with PMS (thank you for letting me share) LOL!!!

Sheena:D

If you're looking for a magazine about women's bodybuilding and fitness, check out IRONY.

http://www.ironymag.com/

It's a new magazine just getting off the ground, so it isn't big or flashy, but it's got a lot of real women bb'ers and fitness competitors behind it, and what it lacks in pages, it makes up in content.

Lately I've noticed even Oxygen is getting a bit too mainstream - a lot more fitness "model" types being featured rather than the usual fitness competitors. The last 2 issues haven't had any coverage of competitions, and those are the pictures I like the best. :bawling:

There is so much b.s being published in mags these days...........muscle mag and Oxygen mags are all about Muscle-Tech .........YEs I do buy Oxygen mag, but more for motivational reasons............I love looking at fit women............sometimes they do have great articles on nutrition and beauty...........these models dont eat muscle-tech bars to look like that:D
They should have a muscle mag just for women.........that deals with AS...........yeahhhhhhhh right.............

i hear ya sheena!! LOL... that happens to me all the time. im reading this great article and all of sudden i realize its just a ad for freakin hydroxycut. its like... how many ads do they need!?!? its really become a bunch of bull. ive actually stopped reading so many of the mags i used to b/c its the same thing alll the time:( . im for the elite mag!!! wahoooo, when it coming out:p

I don't even waste my time on muscle mags that much anymore. All they are anymore are catalogs for everyones supplements. Mainly I look out for the swimsuit issues anymore... :D
