Anyone playing Oblivion that just came out?

I got the game for PC, and let me tell you, it's so blatantly obvious how bethesda was completely waylayed into making this game biased towards the 360, and that's not a good thing.

First off, Bethesda has stated in previous interviews in gaming mags that the game you play on the 360 is exactly what youd play on the pc, and that is true, but the reason it's true is only because they held back the actual quality of graphics in the out of the box version of the PC. People have been finding many tweaks and such hidden within the games files that anyone can mess with in 2 minutes and have a MUCH better looking game compared to the 360 version.

Why did Beth do this? Obviously, marketing tactics. Microsoft payed them big bucks to screw over the millions of fans of previous Elder Scrolls titles on the PC to make the game very console-centric. Just goes to show money talks and loyalty and credibility walk.

The game's level system is also a joke, everything scales to your level. You can honestly stay level 1 and beat the entire game. It's very possible to "screw up" your character if you took some non combat-centric abilities for your majors, because what happens is, when you get 10 skillups in your major skills, you level up. Now if you for example picked a thief type class with acrobatics and security for majors and kept leveling up off of them, or even sneak, then your combat skills are being left behind. You may think that doesn't matter as a level is a level, but with the monster scaling, they don;t care what your ability levels are, they just care about your level. Been leveling up on sneak and acrobatics? You're screwed because your combat level is really say 5 levels behind.

This can be circumvented however by making your skills you'd usually take as majors as minors instead and do a bit of controlled leveling.

Thankfully there are many modders out there giving the pc versoin some much needed overhauls.

The game is still great nonetheless, but the level system and marketing ploys really piss me off.

In Morrwind there was the Imperial Legion, but it's not joinable in Oblivion. Only Fighters, Mages, Thieves, and Dark Brotherhood are joinable guilds. You can do the arena and progress in rank kind of like a guild, but you just kill stuff in the arena for that.
ok did arina yesterday.it was pritty fun.
aap if you want some combat experance do arina. It was funny how the grey prince just sat there as a slotterd him.lol

I actually bought the 1st one but didn't have enough time to invest in it so I only played for a day.

If you liked the 1st few, you MUST get this one. The advancements in computers and consoles really show in this game. I've never seen rag-doll physics like this before.

I need to go buy an xbox 360, problem is that I have 2 roommates and my big screen HD tv is in the living room and I dont want to have to go in there to play it when I want to.

Plus I dont want to hog all the tv to my self, when I play that game it sucks me in for a few hours pretty easily.

I guess I need to buy another HD tv for my room, I just hate to shell out more money when I already have one.

Buy a cheap tube tv for the living room and bring your HDTV into your bedroom. :)

Yep I am grand champion of the arena already....although the grey prince actually fought me and was pretty tough.

I'm level 18 currently.

True I don't really care for the enemies leveling up with you tactics either. Tougher areas should have tougher enemies.....not simply having different enemies placed everywhere depending on your level.

A lot of pure mage characters or thief/stealth characters are getting their arse kicked because they level in magic only, or sneaking and thus get destroyed when in combat.

It pisses me off too that we are in the so called "next gen" console gaming and yet we still have long load times, framerate problems, and numerous bugs.

Next gen my ass.

True. I read that in the strategy guide. I just didn't care enough about his pathetic life to help him out. All I wanted was his blood on my sword!

"Tougher areas should have tougher enemies"

You mean they don't??

I remember on the 1st one, if you went to a certain area you would get your ass handed to you quick. kinda cool because you got this feeling of dread when you went to unfamiliar areas.
