a buddy of mine has some kind of phobia of body hair and is always talking about having this done. i for one like my body hair (i've gotten compliments from a few ladies) but have recently contemplated getting just a little bit done.

what is the experience like?

what is the average cost/does it end up saving you money on razors if you shave a lot?

does it actually keep hair from ever growing in that area again?

is it a sort of blanket effect or can it be targeted?

Just got my 1st facial laser tx 4 days ago. Not sure of the results yet. Will keep you posted. The Dr. told me I should respond well. If I don't like my results in a few weeks ( I repeat tx in 5 wks), I may switch to electrolosis. Laser is supposed to slow hair grow and may need yearly touch ups. It's not too painful. I didn't have any numbing agents and no redness afterwards. Once you have laser or electrolosis, you cannot wax, pluck, etc, only shave. If you are seriously considering this, Do your research and find a good clinic that YOU feel comfortable in. My first consultation lasted~ 1.5 hours. I had a lot of questions, she never pressured me or rushed anything. Cost will vary depending on location.

I am in the process of having hair removal done on my back shoulders and neck, I am a 47 yo male, I had two areas in my mid back left and right side, and lower back where I wanted hair removed, Since my shoulder hair directly connect to the hair on my arms I did not like the hard cut off of the hair line so I made a decision to do my arms as well.

The procedure came with a three year guarantee, which right away means permanent hair removal may not be achievable. I started my back in 2005, and the hair still regrows but it has gotten lighter, however now I have hair all over my back because for some reason the laser has caused vellus hairs to become active and are now growing in, and it is unsightly! I am still in treatment almost three years after I started, and all this time you cannot be exposed to the sun so for three years I have not gone to the beach, or been able to stay outside without sun screen, that includes tanning booths.

The sessions are two months apart, and the clinic claimed that hair removal would be complete in one year, or 6 treatments. The treatments are painful! For the first year I actually was treated with out the numbing cream, you have to pay $40 each session for the cream to be applied and you have to wait one hour for it to activate, and the areas where the cream is applied need to be covered in saran wrap, so you have to sit around for an hour wrapped in saran wrap, sometimes in the waiting room.

The pricing can be paid by the session or a one time payment which covers all the sessions need to remove the hair. I paid a little over $5000 in total, looking back it was a great savings because of the amount off sessions need to complete the hair removal.

Like all cosmetic procedures you really need to understand it is not an exact science, sometimes things go wrong, and the results are not always what you had in mind.

shit hurts like crazy, i know of a woman who had her whole snatch done and the woman who does the treatments said that she wont do men anymore. ouch! i had 4 goes on my monobrow and it looks normal now.

I am in the process of having my entire body done except my head

It is not that bad...unless you are a bitch

my wife lasers for a living, i have had it done multiple times, it hurts and i don't care what people say, depends on a few factors. how hairy are you, where is the procedure being done I.E. balls, dick, back ect....
price depends on what economy will hold, depends on type of laser, depends on techs ability, depends on skin color and so on. what really matters is are u juicing? if u do, the hair will grow back faster as opposed to people who are not on gear

Update- switched to electrolosis after 2 laser tx. Had good results w/ laser. just wanted to have a better chance of being permanent(FDA). So far so good, happy with results of both,-both take time, $, and patience. One of the best things I have done for myself so far.

Hi,

I have had laser hair removal done on my armpits, it was $29CDN a session, I did 7 sessions in total, each spaced 6 weeks apart, and now I dont ever have to shave my armpits. Best investment ever!! It works best on darker hair, will take away the visable hair, but will still leave behind the very fine, light baby fuzz hair. As far as pain goes, it kind of felt like being snapped with a tiny little elastic band, and I never took any kind of pain cream. I definitely plan on getting more done! I found the most dramatic results were after the first session, but it takes a few weeks to notice that the hair hasnt grown back. Hope this helps

A friend of mine had this done on the back of his neck a few years ago. And it has not grown back at all. So i guess it works really good.

I am sure there are a lot of variables, but even though I have a very hairy back, and I would have no problem paying $10,000 to get the hair on my back removed permanently, the procedure was just too painful on me. The one time I tried it I only lasted 5 minutes. I would not go through that pain half a dozen times even if I was 100% certain the hair would be removed. And I have a lot less than 100% confidence in the word of the typical med-spa person.

I am getting my back and neck done starting next week and every 11 weeks there after, the newer systems only take about 30 min to do the whole area and dont hurt like the older systems. I will keep you guys informed oh and it was about $1,500 bucks for 5 treatments and they say it will never grow back...

It helps with the amount of regrowth but I've never seen lazer hair removal that actually was PERMANENT. I've done my body a few times and I notice there are some welcome bald spots but not overall great results. ...and my cousin has been getting lazer treatments for years. That right there says it all..its not supposed to be like a wax job..

I've had treatments and I'll say first hand: the results are NOT permanent. Anyone guaranteeing results is full of it.
As your hormones change, you grow more/less hair. If you're low on hormones, have treatments, and then start changing your body chemicals all bets are off...
It definitely thins hairs and stunts growth, but does not permanently make you baby ass smooth.

While laser hair removal has gotten a lot better over the years, electrolysis is still the only permanent hair removal system. The bad thing about that, is that is can take upwards a year or two to kill all of the hair follicles. Electro is about 1/2 the cost of a laser treatment, too.

Now to days alot of the companys are shit, the only give you more troblues,my wife had it done under arm and legs and 2 years now after theres nothing, but in the strarst it hurts ans she had about 14 sesions.but with reduced laser time.
so find a trusted and from a place where pople have it done with good results.!!
