Anyone Else Against Bombs?

I'm not trying to start a mutiny here but I have some concerns about this bombing technology George is endowing Platinum members with.

Isn't Karma enough? Bombing seems to create an environment of vague unease, vengeance and, worst of all, an in-group vs. out-group based board.

Karma is pretty indicitave of a members reputation but bombing seems more of a branding and there's a reason we, as a society, chose to abandon the scarlet letter.

I know this may be controversial but these are just my thoughts.

I think bombs are abused in some forums. Namely, the chat and conversation forum. People bomb each other for the stupidest reasons. Nonetheless, I think they are rather useful in this forum. They allow us to quickly get rid of steroid spammers and idiots who make posts not even remotely connected to the purpose of this forum.

Sometimes people get mad at each other and bomb each other. Who cares? I mean, sure, they both lose some karma, but other than that, nothing serious happens.

Bombs were put in place to entice the many children which visit this board on a regular basis. This is just another gimmick to get people to join. After visiting for more than a year this does not surprise me at all. Don't worry, B.S. like this does not last long. We put up with it because there are still some people who really know what they are talking about once in a while.

Bombs are completely discrimatory against those new members with low karma points. I just give Division some red for some cruel words to JDevlin and he bombed me back knowing that I don't have enough K to buy myself out. Does this dictate that from now on I just don't pass comment on what I perceive as an unhelpful post because the instigating member has Karma overload?
Surely not a fair system preventing me from posting when I thought I was helping someone...

While I respect George for running EF, and making his money like any business man should. I think the bombing thing is retarded.... People new to the game are going to ask the "newbie" questions, and that should be understandable. I mean normal members on here can not run and search, so they will more than likely ask questions in the open.

Hell we were all newbies at one point in time.

funny thing that i saw this thread...i was thinking the same thing yesturday. there are a few guys here that have given sound advise in the past and continue to do so and lately i'm seeing more bombs for no reason. everytime i see a bomb under somebody's name i click on it to see what post they got bombed for and i have to say that 50% of the time it was for bullshit. probably just somebody thats taken too much halo for the week that felt like bombing. personal issues...in my opinion to not count for a valid bombing.

i think the bombing rights whould be given to mods only. if somebody thinks that there should be a bomb dropped...then contact a mod and have him investigate and do it wisely.

funny thing is that i wanted to post this same topic but i was scared i was gonna get the sh@iut bombed outta me. lol! see what i mean...people will be over cautious on what they wanna post to better this board, which BTW is near perfect compared to other boards.

i might add that i've never been bombed, i'm just talking from what i've seen. hell...i was pltinum for a week and still didn't bomb anybody even though i did see some dumbass posts. the way i look at it is that we arent all gonna agree on everything. everybody is entitled to their own dumbass opinions. including me.

I got bombed yesterday on the cops on AAS thread. It was an ex cop that bombed me...go figure.
