anyone done this: Is it effective ?

hello to all.

I trained my biceps & chest today. but, I wanted to shock my bi's so I did a routine I found on getbuff.com

What i usually do is lift 15-30 lbs - anywhere from 3-4 sets - 10-12 reps.

But this is what I did today. I read it is a good idea to shock your muscles and spurt some new growth. Tell me what you all think ?

stand barbell curl. 15 lbs. 6 sets- 8 reps
stand hammer curl. 20 lbs. 6 sets- 10 reps
concentration curl . 20 lbs. 4 sets- 12 reps

the info i read on this said to do this routine no more than 2 x a month

what does everybody think ? Decent ?

Oh, BTW my bicep routine usually lasts 20-25 min. some things I've read said that biceps are such a small muscle- a workout focusing on bi's shsould never last more than 30 minutes. KEEP IT SHORT, BUT INTENSE !!!!

That's what I've been doing. Does anyone agree with me, or should my biceps routine last like 45 min to 1 hour ?

Haven't tried it, only because my normal routine is 4 sets of 25 reps per excercise. (I start off at 10 pounds for the first set, and increase to 15 pounds for the last 3. ) I use this method for all excercises - not just biceps. To shock my muscles, I'll change the weight around - or try doing as many as I can at my heaviest weight and then drop to another weight and do as many as I can, and then drop to another, etc. until I reach a goal of 100.

It IS good to shock your muscles. Expecially if you've been in the same routine for a while. Just changing the exercises you do will sometimes have the same effect. Don't be afraid of heavy weights.
