I can't fucking stand all this instant message crap we have now a days. I live on the computer but i think all this text communication is taking on its own life and causing tons of things to fight about. First off, its a pain in the ass to type on a number pad and takes longer then dialing a number to talk to someone. My girl justifies it however saying its good for when you dont want to talk to someone. I respond with then dont fucking call them. Also 90% of the drama i have to hear about is "so and so left me a mean face book comment or so and so didnt text me back within 5mins of me texting them so they must be mad".

I love it . It saves times and if you are not dumb and know how to use a phone. Why wouldnt people like to text it saves alot of time you dont have to have a phone stuck to your ear. you can get to the point with a text . and since cell phones cause brain cancer thats even less time you have to have your phone close to your ear. i can text with out even looking i can do it with my phone in my pocket or whatever. i can text a paragragh in like 20 secs flat lol

It's convienent in certain situations but all in all I'd rather talk to someone. Hell I really don't even like talking on the phone very much.

A big problem for me in any written communication is I am very sarcastic which comes across as mean in text. I've gotten in lots of trouble for being mean to people when I was joking.

I blackberry a few times a day but that's just regular old e-mail

See unfortunately this is part of the problem. The younger generation communicates 90% of the time by text message and email. They never have to use proper spelling or grammar or actually make conversation beyond a couple of sentences.

When I was in college at the age of 26 I saw these kids try to write cover letters and essays and I laughed because they couldn't even put together a proper sentence, never mind spell anything. And these are our future business leaders.

I always use proper spelling in texting and email. it's not the forms of communication that are the problem...it's the l33t speak fad.

This is what I mean. It's supporting our society becoming dumber. To someone from the 19th century our communication would look like some weird foreign language.

i only check my voicemail at night...so if people need immediatte assitance text is the only way to go..saves time and weeds out the non important calls

I dont know about spelling but from what Ive read, studies are showing kids are learning proper social skills through networks like Myspace and facebook. Actually, all and all, better communication skills then say you or I had. We sometimes as a older generation chastise the younger generations for poor social skills and lack of morals but the statistics dont back this. Morals in our society have actually improved........on a side note.
