Milton Erickson is given alot of credit for NLP. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Milton_H._Erickson
His influence on Neuro-linguistic Programming (NLP), which was in part based upon his working methods.

Some good info about it. http://north-bay-nlp-com.jeowebproductions.com/john-erik/nlp/what-is-nlp.htm

You can do some stuff to yourself to make yourself feel better too. It's all pretty cool effective stuff.

Yeah NLP can be pretty useful. Derren Brown has said taht he stays clear from NLP as in his opinion it's become a massive money making business for fraudsters and scammers; the "become a millionaire using NLP" type of thing. It is clear that he takes some of his techniques from NLP (like anchoring and the Erickson trance inducing handshake) but i've never seen anyone near as good as him.

He does use a bit of magic ocasionally but the vast majority of his material is psychological suggestion and the ability to read people. The cool part is that he sometimes tells you how it's done.

In the 2nd of 3 live shows that i've seen he asked a random person (selected by throwing a frisbee) in the audience to go away and circle a specific word on a specific page from one of many newspapers from that day. At the end of the show he asked her to open a locked box which contained the exact word she had chosen from one of the newspapers available. Obviously she and everyone else was amazed. Then as the lights dimmed and the show finished he came back out on stage and asked everyone to watch a video of the performance which had been recorded that night. Basically ,every so often he would include the name of the newspaper, the page number and the exact word mid-sentence....only that because he is so skilled and does it so quickly, the brain doesn't consciously pick up on what he said at the time.

e.g. He'd say "Hammer a Daily Mail Page 13 into your head" when performing a magic trick about hammering a nail into his head. He actually winked at the camera at some points to show what he was doing. The whole show had built up to a demonstration of how easily he could brainwash the whole audience using hidden messages. Scary stuff but genius and very impressive. Well worth watching his programmes.

Went to see a live show of his for the third time last night and i'm more amazed than ever. He selects people to peform on by throwing a frisbee into the crowd to show that they aren't just actors. Here are a couple of clips of the stuff he does:

in the first one where he got the guy to want the bmx bike. he used slight of mouth and the anchoring and probably some other stuff. he uses alot of stuff ross jeffries teaches and ross does that psychic stuff too. he seems to use a little bit of everything mixed in together and has gotten very good at it. i've seen a psychologist who knows how to mind fuck people do a number on people.

i saw a video of ross jeffries seduce a woman and she knew what he was about and what he was going to do.

Scoogette! Why would you hate on something so wonderful as a magician?
I really can't explain why, but there is something about them that just gets under my skin.

I was on vacation once with a man and his 8 year old and 4 year old. The girls were fussy, and we were at a restaurant. A magician shows up and I tell my bf, "Gosh, I hope he doesn't come to our table." He already knew about my hatred of magicians...lol. Well, the magician comes over and I am trying bide my time and be polite even though I'm praying he will just hurry up and leave.

His daughters were NOT amused...lol. One of them finally grabbed the trick he was doing and said, "STOP!" I was mortified, but the magician left the table and we giggled for the rest of the trip about her hating magicians too.
