I've been reading about the "war on evolution" and want to understand the rationale behind this thinking. Anyone?

It's not a book per see. It's a collection of religious articles and op/ed papers that outline why global warming and evolution is just a myth. It also outlines how we (not the sun) are the center of the universe. Amazing stuff. Almost Jonestown type thinking...

It goes against everything that I was taught in grade school science, but it's being touted as some of the finest work that these religious minds have come up with. I just want to find someone rational who can defend it with the backup materials because I want to know what makes a person think this way with no proof.

Nope, my last girlfriend broke up with me because I don't believe in a literal interpretation of the Bible( ie world created in six days). What's ironic is her undergrad is in Biology and Chemistry.
