It doesn't matter if you personally disagree with the morality of being gay, thats fine. Its a free country and you have that right. And, you have the right to write hateful, biggoted opinions also. I was just saying that it would be nice for the gay,black,asian,jewish,etc people on this board to know who you are so we don't have to listen to you. Also, I just think its ignorant of you to say hateful things just because you don't agree with who someone is or how they live their life. I probably don't agree with what you do in your life, but that doesn't give me the right to say hate filled things to you. Basically, just be civil, you don't have to agree with everything somebody does in their life to have a conversation with them.

My point was that all forms of hate are the same thing. Whether you hate gay people, jews,women or any other minority...its all hate. The same things are behind all of them. While I do take a personal interest in gay rights, I also realize that gay rights is the exact same thing fought by women, black people, or any other minority. Also, its no really "gay rights", its just equal rights. Thanks

I don't really understand how I've been so offensive. I think people do care about gay people getting equal rights, as the recent and coming legal cases show. Gay pride parades started just like the other political associations for black people and women's rights. Sometimes for minorities there is a need for seperateness because they aren't accepted by the majority of people. I can't go to just any bar with my boyfriend and dance with him, well I can, but I might just get my ass beat. But, if I go to a gay bar then I'll be left alone, see the need for some seperateness? Hopefully this need will go away with more equality and acceptance. I agree, you have every right to hate me, call me names, whatever. I'm just saying that it would be nice if people on this board could respect each other more, it doesn't make sense why you can't intelligently talk to me about stuff without degrading me. But, I admit that you don't have to do this, but it would be nice. Just how its nice that I respect your right to have opinions and beliefs and live however you want to live. I don't degrade others. Also, women are consider a minority, even though they make up a about half the pop. statistically, they are still discriminated against. There was and still is a feminism movement? Also, women are included in affirmative action, so they are still considered to have minority status just because they have and still are the targets of discrimination. Thanks

I'll try to say this in a way that you won't be offended as you seem quite sensitive.

You started the thread in a very confrontational manner. Calling out the "biggots", daring them to voice an opinon that was in opposition to your own. You went on to classify people who did not agree with your lifestyle as morons. You also called down religion (Catholocism) in your rant:

Your problem kingsbury, is that you are trying to tell others what they should think and feel, something that others have probably done to you in the past judging by the content of this thread.

Personally I don't have anything against people who are homosexuals just the act of homosexuality. I find it wrong and offensive. I did not want or need for you to divulge your sexuality and I'm not sure what the purpose of your thread was, other than to sound self righteous. I found your post(s) offensive and condescending especially because the only point of your thread was to try and discredit or devalue the opinions of those who disagree with you or your chosen lifestyle.

I admit you're right on that. I did start off stupidly and regret doing that. I was just writing that because I pissed off at the time about something I read in another thread. But, I shouldn't have done that. I also shouldn't try to tell you what you should think and call you an idiot or anything like that. I can understand if thats what your religion calls for. But, the only thing I don't understand why people can't leave it at that. Like today, I was listening to a christian radio station and they were having an author of a book who said, "if you know of a homosexual in your family, you should never leave your children alone with that person". He made the same old false argument that gays are sick and want to recruit children, blah blah blah. I mean, I understand that bible says gay sex is wrong. It never says anything about gays being sick, and all that other stuff. It says sodomy is a sin. It doesn't say gays are predators, that they want to "convert" children, that they are godless people, etc etc...all the common stereotypes. It just seems to me that all their "evidence and research" seems to start from the point that gays are evil and then go from there. Thats not how science is done, its supposed to be impartial and start with no opinion and endeavor to find the "truth", whatever that may be. And, I admit there is research which is pro-gay that isn't done correctly. Also think its funny how people use the words "gay lifestyle". I always wonder what they mean by that, my life is pretty normal and boring actually. I go to work, come home, my boyfriend and I have something to eat and then on most nights we'll watch TV and then go to bed. I'm no different. Anyway, I'm rambling. Basically, I'd like to apologize for coming off as a self righteous asswipe. I just really wanted to have a discussion. I understand why people disagree with the act of gay sex, I just don't understand all the other stuff that some people come up with. You have every right to disagree with me, I just wish things could be nicer and I don't understand why being gay has to trump all of your other personal qualities so that people wouldn't want to have anything to do with you even if you're the kindest person in world. I also think gays deserve equal rights, meaning they deserve the right to marry, the right to have children, to receive equal benefits as straight couples. Nothing special, just equality. Thats about it.....again sorry to sound so elitist....thanks

Also, I'm sorry I made that stupid statement about religion. That sounded very ignorant and hateful itself. I just get wound up sometimes by what some extremists say and makes me mad. Actually, I went to a catholic high school and the priest who was the president of the school is actually a really cool guy. (hold the jokes)...We went to dinner early in the school year and he was very understanding and wasn't judgemental at all. he actually told me he thought the church was wrong on a lot of things about gays, which I didn't think priests were allowed to do, I thought they were supposed to keep their personal opinions to themselves....anyway, he is a great guy and I know other people like this. I don't hate christians, I don't hate anybody. Sorry for the offense....and please don't say that going to an all boys school turned me gay or something...lol

But, yeah freedom is for everybody.....I would definitely defend the right for people to hate whoever they want Like a couple years ago the Klan bought adopt a highway signs in my area and there was a big stir....who gives a shit?
