Another one bites the dust. *Sigh*

A friend of mine just got his girlfriend pregnant, and like all young couples in the situation, they are getting married before the baby is born.

Both still in school and don't make great money.

I grew up with the guy, we had the same views on marriage(Dont marry before 25. He just turned 22). Same views on kids. We would laugh at "young" families for being idiots, kinda sad he is joining them.

He has been with the girl for a little over a year, and they have broken up about 9 times.(No joke). All of his friends can't stand the girl.

What a waste. :worried:

Not trying to judge.....but breaking up so many times isn't a good sign at all. There must be a good reason for that and also when friends don't like her, that isn't a good sign either. Getting married doesn't make things better, it makes things worse when all isn't right to begin with.

1. Of course it isnt a good sign, we tried so hard to get him out of the situation in the past, but she always managed to snatch him back.(KB and Awitty would consider him "weak" if you know what I mean.)

2. We all have great reason to not like her, she has tried so many times in the past to get him away from his friends(Previous thread about it somewhere). She is the controlling, psycho bitch type.

Reads his text messages, has his myspace password, constantly asks "who is on the phone", "who is that",etc etc.

3. Things should get ugly.....

I'll never understand the rush to get married once pregnancy is discovered, shit it isn't the early or mid 1900's. So when they get married and then divorced, he'll have to pay child support on top of alomony. A buddy of mine did this and is now paying about 2k a month ALONE in alomony...I can't imagine paying child support on top of that. Shit his ex-wife doesn't even work!!! Why would she?!

Tell your friend to wise up and wait, what the fuck is the rush for?!? Broke up 9 times?!

Sounds like the kind of girl who may have gotten pregnant on purpose.

Tell me that she is at least hawt.

She obviously chose to get knocked up as a further exercise in controlling him.

I hate women who use their wombs as a political weapon in their relationships.

Who knows, she might have got knocked up to control him further.

UPDATE: I went to dinner with my friend, we talked about everything. I told him good luck, but didn't reveal my true feelings.(i.e he is fucked).

And guess who shows up? The bitch knows I hate her and she still shows up. I kept things civil for my friend, or else I would have left on a dime.

What a fucking waste.

I might not get invited to the wedding, but if I do, should I go?(I dont think I want to).

WHat do you guys think?

I think she was worried about him being alone with your for an extended period.

Jealous and afraid you'd talk some sense into him.

yes go to the wedding, afterall he is still your friend and you want to show him your there for him no matter what:)

yeah why wouldnt you go to the wedding?

It sucks seeing friends go down in life like that... Some people never take a step forward.

Damn was she on birth control?

That's scary. I wouldn't automatically marry the girl though.

You are right, he's fucked. Broke up 9 times? wtf? Sounds like a keeper.

Haha. Good responces. If I get invited (I might not though) I will go just for him.

Other then that, I will always be in the "shadows"....

Longhorn, you have a point.

UA IRON, it does suck, especially it's one of your good bros.

young families need alot of support from their friends, so be there for both of them as they take a new journey together...

He could have controlled her by wrapping it up....mess with the bull and you deserve to get the horns.

Only problem, I really dislike his "wife". So it makes thing hard.

Exactly.

Funny thing is, we would talk after one of their prior break ups.

I would tell him, "Dude, at least you didn't get her pregant, or else you would have to see that crazy bitch for the rest of your life".

Irony is funny sometimes.

Sorry hs lifter. That sucks for your best bud. But, he will need support, it will be hard, but be there for him.

Go to the wedding bor. I know they have the odds stacked against them but lets try not to judge their fate. He is at least manning up and getting married instead of running away and becoming a deadbeat. Their situation is really not that unusual by the way.

Getting married to the girl you knockup isn't manning up it's fucking up unless you're in love with her. A househould were the parents don't get along isn't any better for a kid to grow up in than visiting daddy on the weekends.

I'm sorry this happened to your friend when he was not planning it. I guess if he is set on getting married, just support him and try not to metnion to him anymore how much you hate his fiance. It may alienate the two of you.

Easier said then done. But yeah, I don't tell him anything anymore, but sometimes it shows through my actions.

I told him in the past I dont want to be around her and I don't think that will change.

In the end, I am still his friend. We will just be hanging out when she is not around, hence the term, I will be in the "shadows". But sometimes that doesnt even work when she suddenly appears at out of no where (Dinner).

Anyway, we will see what happens.

I know plenty of people who've been married 10,20,30 and it all started because the guy knocked up the girl. And they get along and kids turned out ok. All Im saying is try not to jump the gun, because if they make it and end up being a good family, you are the one who will have to live with the fact that they knew you thought they werent going to make it.
Try being positive because it sounds like the last thing they need is for a friend to think they are doomed from the start.

Convince yourself that you LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE his fiance. Think of nothing else. When you can stomach her & be nice to her & make friends with her, then shag her. Let your friend catch you, He calls it off. Problem solved. Of course you lose a friend, but that is the ultimate sacrifice.

Well, that is great. Re-read some of the thread to get an idea on the situation. When they get married, he would have known her for 18 months. Many break ups all along. Girl is crazy. Gets crazy girl pregnant that he has known for only 18 months. That doesnt sound so good....

Considering the circumstances, things do not look good. If they end up being a good family, then good for them. As for "living with the fact", that doesnt apply since I wont really care let alone lose any sleep over it. We are all 21-22, chances are, we wont even hardly know eachother 5 years from now.

When my friend and I talked about "everything", I was postive, wished him good luck and hoped for the best. It's not like I told him "You're fucked to his face".

Anyway you look at it, society thinks that all young family's are doomed from the start, and they are usually right.

Look I'm not saying he should try and duck out and avoid his responsibilities. My point was simply that this relationship sounds broke to begin with and marriage, whatever the reason for doing it, is not a solution. Breaking up on several occasions in a span of a year is a tell tale sign of a bad relationship.

If they manage to mend the fences and make this thing work then that's awesome and would definitely be good for the kids. Like you said there are people who get married for this reason and make it work.
