Androgens and Cardiovascular Disease

lanky said:
here is what i got out of it--cardiovascular disease(CVD) is attributed to many factors..diet, exercise , genetics,,,smoking, alcohol, stress....the intereactions between androgens and CVD is not understood well,,but we do know unfavorable lipid profiles can lead to progression of CVD (possible side effect of oral 17 aa androgens).testosterone levels have been shown to be lower(in general) in men with varried sevarity of CVD,,low testosterone is though to occur after CVD progresses(ie..limited mobility, bad diet, 10+ medications a day, changes in vascular system around the testicles).men seem to have a greater risk of CVD compared to women, because women nag us all day long,,cause extra stress when they spend money on stupid arts and crafts that dont do anything that draim my wallet, and they buy a thousand pairs of shoes that they wear once,,also having to listen /deal with their drama..and bust my ass all day at work(leading to a break down of my cardiovascular system little by little so the time i reach 60 i have a massive stroke or heart attack)
bwahahaha...i thought you were gonna stop after a comment or two.

I also got a few points from that novel.
excess estrogen is bad and causes CVD.
Lower estrogen levels would be better to keep from gettin CVD as bad.
Androgen effect on CV were not tested on a firm enough basis to determine if it caused CVD or not.
Increase test does not necessarily correlate with CVD or shorten lifespan.

thats bout all I could interpret before I got tired of reading

diabetes is a HUGE factor in the development of CVD, renal failure, vision problems, CHF, hypertension, you name it.......go to any telemetry/PCU/cardiac floor in any hospital and ask each nurse how many of their patients have diabetes..chances are that 4 out of 5 have it..most people do not even know they have it until it ravages every organ in your body both directly and indirectly

just to add to gymintensity's post....he stated that estrogen plays a role in CVD in men(possibly)..there has been so much evidence in both directions both good and bad with the whole estrogen issue..i am neutral on this one..even after reading hundreds of journal articles on the whole topic...there are so many other factors that come into play with CVD.

you CAN controll how you eat,,exercise, manage stress somewhat(life can be a bitch)

genetics you cannot controll--you bald, hairy, or short people know what i am talking about(yes again,, life is a bitch).

please get reguar check ups with your doctor and DEMAND bloodwork(ask him to throw in a testosterone levels while you are there) catch diabetes early
