how intense should am cardio sessions be ? my gf likes to take a brisk walk , bike ride or rollerblade before am meal, she then workouts out at night.....will that be effective for her weight loss goals?

RE:

The best thing you could do is go for a 20min HIGH Intensity cardio session on any equipment you like. Bu high intensity i mean start at level 5 and each minute go up a level, when you reach level 9 come back down to 6 and continue the process when you are in minute 18th minute of your session push yourself to level 10 and then in your 19th minute go back down to level 5 for a warm up.

Try it once, youll feel great :)

For fat loss it's, long and slow wins the race !.
Intensity is actually not the key factor in weight loss, but however it should be introduce as it also helps to add stamina. For increased and lasting stamina an increase of only 10% in both distance and effort should be introduced from the start. This has been shown to give last results should it be neccessary to take an break through injury, sickness etc.

For maximum fat loss the cardio should be done an an empty stomach. Only thing which should be taken before hand is water and nothing else, then don't eat for 1 hour after the cardio session. After which take in a proper ratio of protein, carbs and fats.
If AM cardio proves difficult, and it is for most !. Try not eating for 2-3 hours before your cardio and 1 hour after. It sounds harder than it actually is, and the quick results are great.

Lastly don't forget her rest days, their very important and can't be stressed enough. Especially for a beginner.

so you're saying if you eat at 3, do you cardio at 6 and don't eat again till 8, it's almost as good as working out in the am?

I keep telling myself I'm going to wake up and do 30mins cardio 3 mornings a week but I just can't do it. I set my alarm, pack my bags and everything, and then when the alarm goes off, I reset it for 7.

Also, do you think it's bad to do the am cardio and then do more that night?

ide have to agree with the mod intensity...

after a week of doing high intensity everyday FTITM, i feel great though, i dont seem as 'cut'...which is kinda weird I think? Any one know why this would be?

I tried this because I wanted a break in my usual gym routine..give it a bit of a shakeup...

but next will go back to hard training and brisk walks - maybe throw in a spin class for fun:freak:

I've been doing high intensity FIITM for 20 mins and then another 20 - 30 of moderate intensity.
Trying to cover all my bases
