I go in this morning for my first HRT injection..I'm 52, and have been feeling crappy, moody, cranky, put on about 40 pounds in 2 years, way too much belly fat..Blood work showed total and free testosterone way way down...

His plan for me is 3 injections, 1/month/3 months, and then I'll probably go on the gel..

Dr said I'd be amazed at how much better I'll feel.. I just want it to help get the weight off..

Any similar experiences out there?

Thanks,

Once a month? Interesting. Wonder what he is using and how much.

Androgel can really raise your test & free test levels. Make sure you have them checked via testing every three months. Won't put you on the cover of Flex, but does work.

I'd also look at your esto levels. Esto and fast sugar is giving you the weight gain. Look at the men our age in resturants ... big bellys and looking like big women. Now look at their plates. LOL

Have Doc give you prescription for Amiridex, 0.25 three times a week. This will lower esto, including any testo that converts. Get some DIM + vit E from health food store and take that also. Lowers esto.

Consider some HGH .... at least 15 iu a month. Really helps!

Diet:
Purge out all sugars, especially flour products. Read labels. A lot of your added weight is stored water. Purging fast sugars will cause your body to dump all that water.

Up the veggies and grilled animal flesh. Don't be afraid of real eggs.

Thank you for your reply.

Well, the first injection was the 'most I can give you'..I'm not exactly sure which testosterone it was. I'll ask him when I see him in a couple of weeks. It was either 200 or 400mg..It took a few seconds to administer. I guess if my testosterone tank was full I'd have a better memory huh? lol..

He told me that he wanted to start out with a couple of injections to see what the injections were doing to my test levels and based on this, he'd know how much gel to prescribe.

I'm intrigued about the estrogen factor..What is DIM?

Great point about the guys our age in the restaurants...haha!

Went on HRT at age 36. Spent about ten years drinking very heavy, when I quit in 2001 I was drinking a half gallon of whiskey every day and half. Had my test level checked it was 236 ng/dl which is low, my free test level was just in the low normal range. My Dr., looking back, only knew to test the leveland prescribe. Four years later I am still on weekly(200 mg 1cc) or bi-weekly injections(200mg 1.5cc) how I want to take them. My test levels stay quite high but normal. I am on no anti-estrogen, doctor doesnt know enough about incorporating it so he wont. I do carry alot of water now and have some face bloating due to HRT side effects. My BP stays good, blood sugar is good and cholesterol stays in range as well as liver enzymes.

I am now working with a new Dr. who just took blood monday. I told him Ineed other things with the test. He seems to be willing to work with me on things, we'll see.

I am a fairly massive individual at 290,lots of muscle mass, probably 20% BF. ANY tips on anti-estrogen meds and HCG doses would be greatly appreciated.

My anti-esto is amiridex. I take 0.25mg T Th Sat.
You really aren't on that much HRT for your size.

I think with the addition of 0.5 mg T Th (because of your size)
you might even loss some "bloat".

Diet? I lost a lot water and fat when I pulled out all my fast sugars and ate only veggies for my carbs. Helped all my measured levels. Maybe the drinking ran up your insulin? It's sugar, yes?

Don't know about HCG. I am big fan of HGH. Ask the Doc about that.

I appreciate your response. I am interested in the "fast sugars" thing. I am going to look further into that. I will ask my doctor today about teh arimidex and HCG. Do you prefer weekly or bi-weekly injections? and why? Thanks again.

Outr of interest are you from America or Europe? A oncea month is avery poor routine and will not ell much. Why? because your T levels will be on a rollercoaster with this kind of treatment. You will start of too high and finish irritable with very low levels.
Typically you should be started with androgel 50mgs and levels taken after 4 weeks to see if you need more or if there are any problems. If the gel is not sufficient then injections should be introduced at 100mg once a week for much steadier levels and monitored. HCG should also be intoduced.
If you check out AACE guidleines you will see a once a month injection is not recommended any more
