Advice please re: putting on weight

I'm 5.7 and weigh just over 8 stone. I would like to gain weight but it seems to be impossible. If I used steroids for a limited period of time would I increase in size, without working out? Also would the increase of size be distributed around my body?

Hello and welcome,

A couple of questions first, and a few things to clarify some common misconceptions

1. How old are you?

2. How many calories are you eating every day? Protein/carbs/fat?

3. Are you training or doing any sports?

4. Have you had any blood tests recently to make sure that there is not a metabolic issue?

5. Do you know your body type? ectomorph/mesomorph/endomorph?

Misconception;

One of the side effects of steroids is that people put on muscle, but that is because steroids seem to inhibit the glucocorticoid steroid hormones which have muscle break down in response to the stress of training, keep a positive nitrogen balance (amino acids/protein), and stimulate protein synthesis which helps to build muscle in response to training (mostly).

To put on weight,and I am assuming you want lean tissue, not fat, you have to eat more calories than your body uses every day.

Without a proper diet and training regime, steroids do very little as far as gaining weight.

And, without a good diet and regular training, all the weight you gain when on steroids usually comes off. This probably happens to 8 out of 10 lads the first time they do steroids if they don't learn about diet and training first.

So then it is just a bit of a dodgy, expensive, and riskly (law and health wise) experiment on yourself.

Can I hire you for my own personnel trainer? WHEW!
