I could be worng but I think ALA really increases the spike more so than just carbs alone..... therefor carbs + whatever food your eating in conjunction post workout = normal insulin spike where ALA + whatever food your eating in conjunction post workout = higher than normal insulin spike which is theoretically very good post workout
