Couldn't decide between "Discovering Red" - A Journey: *Bunny* Log - Red is my nickname since the Cancer & the new head of Red Hair is obvious :D ... Red is my alter, the new me, born again, etc ... but I went with my initial instinct ;) Saving the ^^ for my book.

Going to try to keep this as short as I can & to the point … :FRlol: **NO SUCH THING in Bunny Land**


Intro :
:idea: And so it begins, the long awaited dawn of a new log … RIP ~400 Page Bunny Log :D :FRlol: Hate to see it go, but it’s about that time. I am now 2 years out from my last Chemo, as of July 21st, 2006, which means I have less than 3 years to go for a remission declaration. :magilicut :dance2: :elephant: :arty: Yee haw :bfold: That date was also the last day I trained with any type of weights:rolleyes: . SO, I figured on the never ending journey to help myself find ‘the way’ , I thought hey, why not share my journey with hopes of Inspiring, Motivating & Encouraging others to do so as well… got me this far :)

Body Weight: 163.2 lbs

BF%: TBD … Last measurement was ~ 13-14 % … Probably about 16-18% right now .. When my gurl gets back from Hawaii, I will get pinched with corresponding photos :) Plan to take pics & get BF done every 2 weeks :cow: :D
Height: 5’9" as of last measure

* Be healthy & Happy

* Go back to schoolafter this, entertain the possibility of looking for a job that offers Group Health Insurance

* Finish my 3 photo shootsThese have been put off for SOME time now. If I count I have missed probably 3-5 opportunities in the past year b/c ‘something’ comes up or gets in the way: Not going to deal with that anymore. I do not have hopes of being a famous fitness model, just something I want to do for myself, accomplishments to be proud of & pics to maybe show the grand kids one day :D Whatever else happens is a bonus.

* Lose Body Fat, Maintain muscle I can afford to lose some muscle, I hold onto muscle & build it easier than I thought.

* Keep diet clean as possibleI would like to make my cheat/reward meal once a week(end), hopefully set aside for spending time with my family & people that are dear to me. Alcohol hinders fat loss (for me), so that will be kept to a bare minimum, & reserved for special occasion.

*Do something everyday – Ck, thank you :heart: Just get out there & do something, get moving, blood flowing, oxygen pumping .. SOMETHING …

Supplements, Stims, Vitamins & Mineral’s (hey that kinda rhymes) : This will vary day to day … Check out daily log to see what I’ve added for that day ;) :chomp:

^^ This will change over time .. starting out slow :D

Split: I’ll be more than happy to share as soon as I figure it out. Right now my goal is do SOMETHING …

Diet: My base is 40/30/30. Going to try to keep cals 10-12 X bodyweight, but this may dip or raise about my 'range' depending on workout & if my body says, "FEED ME". I am currently eating things that I can stomach without feeling sick (Chicken, Apples, Egg Beaters, Oatmeal [slow cooked Quaker NOT instant], Extra Virgin Olive Oil). I have ZERO appetite so this is more like fuel the body than ‘feeding’ it. This will be updated to add more green veggies once I go shopping & I plan to incorporate a carb rotation to correlate with my training split that is *TBD*

Something I borrowed from another forum :) I’ll give it back if/when I ever post over there ;) & will be including in my daily posts :D

LET ME TELL YOU SOMETHINGS ABOUT OUR *BUNNY*

When i first got here didnt know many people. She was one of the most inspirational people on the board once i heard of her story. BUT i actually didnt read her WHOLE log untill couple weeks after her seriously helping me 1on1.

She is one of the nicest if not the nicest person on these boards!

She was always helping people by cracking her :whip: at us!

You know your talking to someone special when shes around.

Im sorry i hadda to go mushy like a :rainbow: But you know what, when some1 helps you escape the former prison of a body, she deserves every word out my mouth (well hands i guess lol)

I hope Perfection comes soon in your eyes bunny, because you already accomplished that in ours!

Mental Day Rating: 7 – Someone told me today, I sounded like I got a recharge of my batteries & I’ll be on my way back to the “Energizer Bunny” status in no time… :D Other than work related issues, today was a good day ;)

Workout Rating: 8 – (AM workout) My walk/RUN intervals were tough & I pushed myself .. walking I was more winded than usual, I WANTED to keep running or jogging, but forced myself to walk/recover. I felt like I accomplished something .. it was very peaceful when I reached the top of the hill … the view is SICK.. I just wanted to sit there & stare for a few hours :D

Mental Day Rating: 7 - Pretty fair day at work, because I didn't do any work or talk to :insane: clients

I'm confused? Did you post that before I corrected the date?
I am tracking my water via fit day & fl oz is the way to go since I didn't custom it, so that's the only reason why :) :jarswim:

I catch myself sitting here & tensing my shoulders ... I have to keep correcting my posture, stretching & everything 'adjusts' itself .. UGH ...w3ird
I wonder if I can get adjusted either before or after the accupuncture tomorrow. Should be VERY interesting ... ;) :D

And I am nursing a migraine ... popped 4 Ibuprofen which is all I had on me .. No, it's NOT from lack of carbs, it's from the annoying screeching sound the printer in the next office over is making ... it needs a lube job ... SERIOUSLY .. It might just fly off her desk in the middle of the night without explanation...:evil:

I hear ya about the posture. The BB OHP / BTN sometimes helps me BIG TIME with keeping my shoulders from rounding forward all the time... stick out my chest more :qt: lol

I’m going to turn into one I know :) :D Until I get my appetite back, can EAT normal & go shopping, this is what doesn’t make me wanna hurl every minute of the day … So I’m sticking with it. :sick: no fun, but then my abs would get a workout I’m sure (sorry bad joke).

I’m adding things back in slowly. My stomach has been better, which I do notice coincides with the level of stress, tension & honestly bouts of depression that have completely overwhelmed me at times. Meals have been ok for the last 2 days so I’m trying to focus on that, since I can force some food down without too much resistance. Migraines still come & go, energy Level still low, but not so much lethargic. I’ll just continue to take notes, try to eat & “DO SOMETHING” every day … even if it’s just a little something, right? ;) :heart:

I’m going to turn into one I know :) :D Until I get my appetite back, can EAT normal & go shopping, this is what doesn’t make me wanna hurl every minute of the day … So I’m sticking with it. :sick: no fun, but then my abs would get a workout I’m sure (sorry bad joke). LMAO

I’m adding things back in slowly. My stomach has been better, which I do notice coincides with the level of stress, tension & honestly bouts of depression that have completely overwhelmed me at times. Meals have been ok for the last 2 days so I’m trying to focus on that, since I can force some food down without too much resistance. Migraines still come & go, energy Level still low, but not so much lethargic. I’ll just continue to take notes, try to eat & “DO SOMETHING” every day … even if it’s just a little something, right? ;) :heart:


Depression, stress= IBS (let your accuptuncture dude know this and they can help with the stomach issues too)

migraine=cold compress on head and breathing techniques for you when you ly down.

Workout Rating: 9 – (AM workout) As far as intensity I give it a 9 … 10 would have been if I ran 4 Hills opposed to 2 … OMGoodness was I dying at the top … slowly but surely every day :) I think every week I’m going to add + 1 “Hill” cycle … see how that works. Reminds me of marathon training for some reason :whatever: I had to force myself to STOP jogging and walk for a mini cool down.

Mental Day Rating: 6.5 - Today was a pretty decent day, again did not talk to any of the PITA clients. I was excited all day to try the acupuncture, and did NOT get done what I needed to at work. Make sure I do tomorrow.

Bod Rating: 7 - Feelin' good , still not up to par.... after the past few days of cardio no real soreness after my hiatus, felt good after I got adjusted. Body Screaming to lift some weights, yet still missing the energy. May wait until Fri./Sat. to give me a full 3 weeks OFF, we shall see...

I cannot believe I'm going to say this, but I cannot drink Diet Pepsi anymore (I am sure I will in the future) but I can taste the syrupy flavor, it is so bizarre (for those that don't know, I use to drink like 4 cans a day minimum, no problem).

I can still drink Crystal Light and of course water, but both make me more thirsty. (That reminds me I drank that last night forgot to update log, oh well :whatever: )

The acupuncture was interesting. Too much type right now, so I'll formulate some thoughts on it in the morning. I only bled a little and the stinging stopped after 15 minutes. 10 pin pattern = 10 bandaids & he almost forgot the one he put in my head WTF! :redhot:

I'm kidding, no blood, no bandaids, no 'pain' IF I even felt them going in lol :D :verygood: Gave me a supp to help with my adrenals which are STILL an issue according to Doc Pins (hehe :D). All for now.

I had accupuncture treatment done twice a week for well over a year. It was covered by insurance after a car accident and I had back issues. I’m going to hold out until me next appointment on Wednesday, August 16 at 7:15 p.m. The premise is to avoid things that would go down ‘rough’ … that did include apples but he laughed & said if that was the worst I was eating then to chew them really good. I suppose I can have applesauce but not really a big fan of that. I can have steamed or soft veggies and swap out PB for hard walnuts/almonds. This should be interesting & feel FREE to :velvett: if you see my diet slacking. I will most likely go to dinner this weekend with my P’s for my ‘cheat’ meal .. so I’ll have to keep it clean (no booze) & not ‘rough’ lol :D :verygood: ***

I can just move or take a deep breath & hear some cracks & pops (not in the OUCH way) ... decreased a # since this is not going away yet

Anywho, my insurance company denied my procedure to harvest stem cells for a bone marrow transplant lol. I think I would go on a :digger: spree if they covered this ... :evil: especially since I do not have a specific ‘medical issue’ recognizable to my current MDs etc, to throw a referral or help me out in anyway. I would get rxn’d some pretty heavy anti’s & told to go home, sleep it off and stop with the diet & training I do. :rolleyes: :D So, whaddya know, lucky me, lol the doc is NOT 'in network' and he's the only one I trust sticking pins in me, not to forget contorting me to crack away, so I guess I’m just going to have to take the hit since it’s something I always wanted to try.

A little background on my Doc Pins … He & his wife are both Chiropractic Physicians and Certified Acupuncturists, have their own practice at 2 locations + at the ‘spa’ I go to + one other location. Doc Pins is a 2nd generation Chiropractor and has worked along side Chiropractic, Acupuncture,
& Traditional Chinese Medicine specialist since 1990. He received a BS in Biology and his Premed from the U of I, also a BS in Human Biology and Doctorate of Chiropractic. Doc Pins is also certified in Acupuncture/Meridian Therapy & Active Release Techniques.

GOAL: TO help patients achieve optimal health through a holistic & natural approach to health care, by using chiropractic, acupuncture, soft tissue techniques, applied kinesiology & nutrition (I re-worded / copied this from his bio on a few different sides :D *credit given*)

I’d like to provide more insight as to what Acu IS, but I don’t have the time just yet. This is a very basic description about acupuncture: “it is a drug free treatment that consists of the gentle insertion of thin sterile needles in specific points on the body. Each point is related to an organ system and its path of energy flow called a "meridian". Acupuncturists use a system of diagnosis to determine specific acupuncture points that will help strengthen and balance your body's energy.”
^^ This system of diagnosis I relate to a massage when the therapist does a “once over” & gets a feel for what they are working with :D Forgive me as I am NOT schooled in the art of the Acu or how to explain the terms (yet) but I’ll do my best to document my experience….

My 1st visit with Doc Pins was post Deep Tissue massage so I was loose & ready to be cracked. :D It was more to feel him out & to get adjusted (chiro work, not Acu related) . Doc Pins used this ‘once over’ to tell me my liver & adrenal glands were not ‘holding strong’ … then cracked me like I’ve never been cracked before…. :FRlol: :D You’re probably wondering wtf am I talking about. Well, try to picture this, lying on my back and he took my right arm & raised it as a lever. There were going to be certain points on the body he would apply pressure to and told me to “hold strong” or NOT let him force my arm down. These points would tell him what organ/area/energy path/etc was ‘off’ … Doc Pins did this my 1st visit to access me, then again my 2nd visit to figure out what pattern he would use to treat me (pattern = where the needles would be placed on my body to help with his conclusions from the “once over”).

The 2nd go round, the Adrenals were still showing up, but the liver was not. SO, I think he opted to go that route to treat those, along with stress, tension, etc, and not digestive tract related and decided on a ‘10 pin pattern’ (I think I remember 2 in each leg & 3 in each hand/wrist, oh & one in the top of my head on my ‘relaxation point’ .. lol didn’t feel that one at all, lucky for him :evil: ) ..

I was fully clothed & pants rolled up for leg puncts. I think my sleeve knocked one of the pins out of my wrist but he fixed that when he popped in during my 15 minutes of chilling. During this 15 minutes, I need to suggest better music b/c I was not too relaxed, it annoyed me, but tried to be at ease. :) I would have rather lay there in silence lol. So with the needles in, light dim, and these mini electrodes hooked up to the top of the needled to stimulate the ‘power points’ … I chilled. :lmao: That was kinda bizarre. Imagine your muscle twitching, it feels like a tapping… that is what these electrodes did to the points they were attached to (hands & feet, NOT head lol) to produce an electrical current for stimulation. :alien:

“Moxa, which is a herb (mugwort), can also be placed on the needles and burned, to cause heat stimulation, or moxa can be used on its own on the acupoints.” <-- This is no longer done there b/c it smells like Pot & that is bad for business .:)
Last thing is the feet taping … while I was being hooked up (I felt like I was get jumped started or something) in order to stimulate two pressure points on the side of each foot, instead of using needles, he taped my feet, right around the middle, around the arch. I have to leave it on for three days. It’s waterproof; I can workout with it, etc. Doesn’t feel too weird but last night I wanted to rip it off.

Notes: If I were toxic, I could have an adverse reaction to the needles; imagine your body cleansing itself, I could get sick, feel crappy, I relate it to the way your body tried to detox after a lymph specific massage etc. Some people feel instantly re-charged/energized/juvenated, I didn’t have the frown on my face after I was done but did not experience anything miraculous either. As posted in my log today, I cannot drink and/or eat coffee, chocolate, etc (i.e no caffeine) and avoid raw veggies, nuts, or any other ‘rough’ foods for about a week. Lastly, he “prescribed” a supp (that sounds funny) for me to take to help with the adrenal function. To convince me, he put on tab on my tongue & did his little test again with my arm. This time, I was able to ‘hold strong’ against his force, whereas before my arm would go down like a knife in warm butter .. (Not really, but you get the idea, … I hope)

NOW, I should NOT have to tell you it is a bad idea to run out & buy this b/c you think it will help you… get yourself checked out by some real docs ( or 4) & when everything looks kosher to them, yet you still have issues, THEN possibly look to alternative ways to help with the situation. As far a the Chiro & Acu go, fair game if you can afford it, it would be great to hear other opinions on this stuff.

What's the reason to stop eating these items? If it "corrects" something will you continue leaving these items out of your daily diet?

Interesting stuff, there Bunny! So you really aren't experiencing any huge stress relief or anything? People do this for their animals too. They go from barely being able to walk to - running in the yard. Pretty cool stuff!

Thank you SG. Anything HUGE & noticeable like WOW, Nope. Little things here & there yes, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't HOPE for a *BAM* you're healed type reaction (I DO know better than that so I'm not really excited or disappointed ya know? :whatever: ) Since he is an acutal doctor as well, I asked what he suggested for treatment. So we're going to try once a week treatment for the next 4 weeks, then maintenance if everything goes well.

I read about the animal Acu. On the same note peole think we are crazy for getting our dog treated for cancer. He had lymphoma (go figure lol) & we got him chemo .. the thousand dollar $dog$ ... lived about 6 more healthy years after that, about 14 or 15 :) I just re-read what you wrote :FRlol: I thought you were talking about humans when you said "They go from barely being able to walk to - running in the yard. Pretty cool stuff!" :lmao: and almost choked on my tea ... I'm drinking "Sweet Dreams" tea right now, help relax me ... :D Since it takes 3 packets at once to do much of anything ;)

The girl that does my deep tissue work was a guinea pig for a guy who needed to do a 58 pin pattern on her back ... I'm like Didn't ya take a picture?!?!?!? That woulda been pretty wicked IMO...

on the Moxubust its called -Moxibustion therapy.
If you ever feel like buying an awesome massage bed.. NO JOKE
google Migun or Migun table.
I did the table for a month straight last year.
It combines, massage, accupressure, jade rollers, and moxibustion all in one.
I want one but the dang thing is WAYYYYYY expensive.
It hurts the first time especially on the sacrum because the sacrum has to build up the bone density in that area.. It feels bruised and sore after the first week or so. Well I had this knot in my rhomboid (between the spine and shoulder blade) that noone has EVER been able to get out. Well after 3 weeks one day it just gave andI was like what the HECK was that?!?! Like I had been so accustom to that knot that I had no idea what it felt like to not have it! I went home and slept like a baby.

As far as accupuncture.... Accupressure is the same thing minus the needles. A certified therapist specifically trained in Shiatsu will know the meridians and chakras of the body. I have some training in this... but I prefer western massage (more medical and sports related). Though I find Eastern alternatives interesting. I would love to go to Taiwan one summer for 2 weeks and learn Thai massage.
There are many different alternative methods out there and I actually have a typed up paper I created for school that talks about Ayurvedic sciences if anyone wants a copy. I find the Hindu based stuff just as fascinating. Many European Ayruvedic schools were closed because people were flocking to alternative therapies and of course the 'western thought' was we need to close these fast or else we're going to be going out of business. So.... a bunch of really good schools one even being in Hungary, were closed even though they were getting results that medicine was not achieving.

O.k. I only wrote all that 'cuz I knew you would be interested not sure baout your other readers' ;)

LOL No. I only 'felt' a few because I watched him put them it, the ones I could see at least :) It felt like a tapping, Not even a little prick or a poke. He's good :) I did feel the ones in my left hand after they hooked me up to the machine though... not in an OUCH that hurts way, just I knew something was in my hand lol :D Then after he fixed the one I knocked out (how I don't know) it was better.

I absolutely LOVE this one my massage therapist plays ... it's all her own music & it KICKS @$$!!! She is so intune with me & the music & her talent it vibes ... I dig it! Danggit now I wanna schedule a massage. They are having an open house type thing Sat. so all schedules are clear and you go there for free food & bev.'s & try out all the different services they offer, which is pretty extensive :)

What's the reason to stop eating these items? If it "corrects" something will you continue leaving these items out of your daily diet?

Because they are rough & he doesn't want me to upset anything on the inside when trying to 'heal' me. I don't have to leave them out, I just need to find suitable replacements until I am kinda doing this cleanse/detox. Caffeine can impact the adrenals along with stims & stress & tension etc a TON of things can mess with these VERY important glands ... As far as raw veggies, they are very healthy for you normally, but I am not in a normal state so when I get back to one, I'd adjust the diet as necessary. I don't eat raw veggies anyway, always steamed or cooked, unless it's a spinach salad or something (usually). The nuts .. eh.. I can sub with ANPB and overeat a few jars :FRlol::chomp:
