A Check-up for the GUYS

I thought this would be the best place for this posting as the volume of traffic is high.

A recent posting by one of the members on her dad's current battle with testicualr cancer [Medical Section: click here to view ] made me think that it might be helpful for the guys here if I posted the following information. For all of you who are unfamiliar as to how you perform a self-examination of your testicles for the possible signs of cancer then this should be helpful. For those of you who already know this, then keep at it and stay safe.

TESTICULAR CANCER SELF EXAMINATION

Run a hot bath for yourself and completely submerge your lower body. Allow the skin of your scrotum to relax and stretch. This will make the examination that much easier. Place your thumb on top of one of your testicles and your index and middle finger underneath. Gently roll the testicle between your fingers and feel for any lumps, swelling, changes in size, shape or texture. Repeat this process for the other testicle. Now run your fingers along the epididymis (it is the tube attached to the top and back of the testicle) to see if there is anything out of the ordinary. If you do find something which doesn't feel right ... DON'T PANIC. It is possible that it could be something entirely different such as a cyst [a pocket of gas, fluid, or solid matter]. So don't be jumping to conclusions.

Make an appointment with a uroligist. Your family physician may be unfamiliar with making a correct diagnosis if it is testicular cancer but a uroligist will know what to look for and how to treat you. It is very important that if you do find something that you act quickly. If caught in the early stages, the survival rate is extremely high.

If you are diagnosed with testicualr cancer, or any cancers, ask as many questions of your doctor as you can and always obtain a second opinion.

Cancer doesn't recognise a person's age so it is important to check yourself over on a regular basis regardless of your age. In the case of a testicular self-examination, it only takes a couple of minutes but it can mean so much later on.

So to all the guys reading this ... check yourself out.
To all the ladies, encourage your fella to take a few minutes and keep himself safe.

If anyone whould like to help Jade and her dad by offering support and/or information to help him beat his cancer, please click on the link at the top of this page to be taken to her posting in the Medical Section.

Thanks everyone.

I was reading that it strikes most men from 14 -35 and is very treatable when caught early......

I've got a good size lump on my left testical. Been there for about 2 years...
Funny thing is, I get more pain from the right one

If you really do.....you need to have it look at....otherwise you need sex to relieve all that built up sperm

do you have a thing with not getting it up, or having the doctors remove the nuts and penis cause it spread. Yes you can get cancer of the penis and have it removed ( penecatomy).

or do you have a thing with dying?

To me it sounds as if you dont care. Good luck with that. It is not worth it dude. The longer you go the worse it may be.

I'll risk it...

if u have something for like at least over 4-5 years on ur nut and it never gets any bigger, or affects ur health its not cancer right? like id be dead right now

How come?

With aging the chance of pronto-oncogenes being mutated into oncogenes and then leading to cancer should increase?

It does normally strike young men so she's correct there. I don't know the scientific reason. I knew a guy in high school that had it at age 17 and had it treated. He ended up being fine after treatment.

This post made me check myself. I have a hard time feeling myself though. I can't tell if I'm feeling the scrotum or the actual testicle sometimes.

Are you examining yourself while in the bathtub? That is the best place to do it as the warmth of the water will relax the skin of your scrotum and make it easier for you to feel around. It may take a few attempts before you get used to knowing what your testicles actually feel like, as crazy as that may sound, but it is important to check yourself out. It only takes a few minutes and if you have someone with you to help, even better. :D

I have hypogonadism and see an endocrinologist twice a year. He usually likes to check out the size of my testicles at least once a year. He does the cancer check too while he's feeling around.

I've never tried in the bath tub. I've noticed that my cock and balls tend to constrict when I'm in the shower. That's sort of opposite of most guys. Maybe I use water that's too hot. For some reason I hang loose better when I'm drunk which probably isn't a good time to do a check.

I knew a guy in high school who ended up dead from this very quickly. I don't think he figured out there was a problem until things were to far progressed.
