Now, I know, that's not a lot, but I have not lifted in over a year. Also considering the fact I use to rep with 315 as much as needto use to misspell words (don't get you panties in a bunch, I can't spell either).

I still have the George Foreman gut, but with my GF grill that is going away too.

Big ups to all you bors out there training hard

thats a GREAT start. many have to work years to get 225 for reps.

I'm at the 225 for 8 reps 3 sets mark as well man! Loving it up here on the double wheel cloud.

It's time to start adding 10's or maybe even try 25's next time though...

Good job on the 225. I remember when I started back in college in the early eighties I had trouble with 135. When I finally hit the 225 mark for reps I rememember the feeling. I'm 44 now and rep 315 for five or six for my last set of bench. So keep at it, it seems once you can get that 225 mark for reps your size and strenght will start to come on, and you can really start to build

There IS something that just looks good with the bar and 2 plates on either side.
3 looks even better.........you'll get back there soon enough......just take it slow and avoid injury. Congrats

So Needto wears panties? I thought so :eek2:

Well shit man...I can only do 225 for a few reps, nevermind 8. I was giving high-fives to my buddies when I did 135 for 25 last night...good work man!

one thing that sucks for me is my joints get sore as hell on benching over 300, maybe its my long arms or something...I remember hitting 225 i was so excited i almost nutted myself...I thought i was a badass b/c i had 2 45s on each side since id say 95% of the people in most gyms cant do nearly that amount

Once you get above 200 there is a big diff. in the feel of it. 200 + just seems, well.....heavy.

I normally lift 4 sets 8 reps of 225 when I work out. I have done a few at 315 but whats the point when you can only do 2 - it's not like anyone's watching me.

Good work.

Bench has always been my weakest lift by far...it's crazy, at my best about two years ago I could push 400+ on squats for a few reps, even then I could only push 250 on bench, and 225 for reps.... now I am stuck in the 150 range =(. I don't seem to be able to hit the chest muscles right, it's like my delts step in and do all the work. makes no sense to me

i havent done flat bench in forever though...I like doing inclines and dips better my chest development has gotten much better as well

biggest most Arnold like pecs i ever saw was on a guy who was 6'2

he just repped out 225 but diverted all the load on to ACTUALLY working his chest

Thats good work,if alot of guys around here were more honest, you would see that 225lbs for 8 reps isnt so bad.Do a drop set with one plate(135lbs)for 12-15 reps right after your last heavy set, feels great, great way to finish, you'd be lucky if you got 15,makes you feel totally jacked!

225 for 8 reps is really good especially for a small frame. i used to rep it for 18, but i have a large frame. i just started working back out and have only gotten up to about 8-10 reps myself, but i dont think i could keep that up for 3-4 sets. dunno though i been doin sets in the 4-6 range to get stronger.

I find when I lift 4 sets 8 reps of 225 that I need to be psyched up every time.

Normally it looks more like 8 reps, 6 reps, 4 or 5 reps, 2 reps.

There's a big portion of it that's in your mind - thats the part I'm missing half the time.

yea adequate but not too much rest time between sets is important too, and that takes time to figure out completely cause the amount of rest you need between sets may change from day to day
