8 pack abs or continue to lose little fat/gain strength this summer?

Oh, I forgot to mention that I will not be using any assistance nor will I ever use anything of the sorts until I have maximized my potential to gain muscle naturally.

No steroids?! OHHH then yes you will loose your strenght and alot of muscle size if you do a cutting phase :)

King that is the bitch of being a natural, I get small and weak while going on a diet. I don't lose much strength or muscle mass, Id say I lose a pound of muscle for every 5 lbs of fat I lose. It used to be worse when I didn't implement a cheat meal every weak.

If I ever use any assistance, I need to use it where I could maximize it's use, which I guess would be a bulking phase. And again, I want to exhaust every possible resource of muscle that I can build naturally, so it seems like it's going to be a while before I use anything ;).

Getting "cut up" is counterproductive when you are still early in your quest for a powerful body.

This is not to say I advocate getting fat.

But I figure, if I'm not carrying serious mass, what business do I have "cutting"? Can't cut up what isn't there..

Excellent post Twitched and I totally agree, too many people try to cut up too soon long before they have added quality mass and they end up looking worse than before.

I am currently 6' 256lbs with about 15% bodyfat right now, I was going to lean up to about 220 for the summer, but decided to put it off one more year and bulk to about 275 until January of next year, then I'll lean up to about 240 before summer and look just like I want to. :)

Thanks for your replies everyone.

It was actually tough making the decision since Im being swayed one way to the other. In one instance, staying on my 'lose fat slow/gain muscle slow' phase may seem the best option. I mean, while I won't reach abs until late into the year, I can at least be somewhat lean during the summer (well, at least comparable to the couch potato average american). My goal of shattering the 315 lb personal best bench is nearing and my chicken legs are starting to look better.

But you know what? It's the summer dammit. That's right. This is the time of the year when Im most happiest and when I usually meet a girl. So that means it's time for me to get abs. Plus, a few of my friends say that I will never have abs (since ive been pretty chubby my whole life). By looking very lean and having abs, not only will i get 'abs' for the summer, but I will also 'increase my chances' of attracting a nice girl. Notice how I said the word 'increase my chances' since getting abs does not=getting girls. It's simply not true (unless another person wants to prove otherwise) and that is an extremely vain way to look at things.

Then there is that childhood psychological abuse as a kid for being fat and small. I may have been athletic, but I sure didn't look like the part to being one.

So I will go on my cutting phase and go back to other phase at the start of August so that way I can maintain a single digit bodyfat percentage while increasing my strength. I will truly reap the benefits once I acheive my goals.

In terms of going on a bulking phase, that is a terrible, and I do mean 'terrible' option for me at this point. I can explain why if someone wants to hear but right now I have to take a shit since my farts are really starting to stink bad.
