MILWAUKEE (Ticker) -- Boof Bonser hopes the Minnesota Twins saved some runs for his major league debut Sunday when they face the Milwaukee Brewers.
Recalled from Class AAA Rochester after Kyle Loshe was sent down, the 24-year-old Bonser (NR) was 3-2 with a 2.01 ERA and 47 strikeouts in 49 2/3 innings this year. He led the International League with 167 strikeouts last season.
Bonser had to be impressed Saturday with the Twins, who set a season high in runs with Saturday's 16-13 win over the Brewers. It was their the second win after a five-game losing streak.
Michael Cuddyer drove in a season-high five runs and Joe Mauer collected four hits and four RBI for Minnesota in a 15-hit attack.
Chris Capuano (4-3, 2,80 ERA) looks for his first win in four starts in May for the Brewers. He did not get a decision last Tuesday against Philadelphia after surrendering two runs and six hits in seven innings.
Corey Koskie belted a three-run homer and Geoff Jenkins and Bill Hall added two-run shots for the Brewers, who are attempting to avoid a series sweep.
