5"10 cant compete?

instant.muscle

New member
i was hoping one day in a few years 2 start competing, im around 5"10 but it just seems pointless when u got these 6"2 guys that dwarf u

most of the greatest bodybuilders were, and are under 6ft bro....arnold,haney,dorian,ronnie,cutler,and many others!...some of those tall guys have a hard time filling those long limbs with mass. 5ft10 is perfect for bodybuilding if you have great genetics, and good work ethic.

yes bro 5'7 is a little to short and 6' is a little to tall--5"9-5"10 thats the height to be competitive in bodybuilding at a high level---if your doing it just to compete height doesnt matter as much

5'-10" is taller then 70% of last year's Mr. Olympia top 10.

Coleman: 5'-11"
Cutler: 5'-9"
Badell: 5'-8"
Schlierkamp: 6'-1"
Martinez: 5'-11"
James: 5'-8"
Anthony: 5'-8"
Warren: 5'-7"
Charles: 5'-9"
Mohammed: 5'-8"

I doubt it's height that's going to keep you from winning the O'. ;)

there ya go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

5' 10" is the perfect height for bodybulding. I'm 6' and it's hard to fill out a taller frame. Don't let that stop you from competing bro.

The really competitive weight classes start around the light heavies - 198 lb - most of these guys are around 5'7" and it just gets bigger from there. The poor guys over 6' end up pushing around 270 lb off season to cut down to 220 or something for competition. And you rarely see them nearly as cut up as the shorter guys - like they said above - longer muscles, hard to build them up to the thickness the little guys have and no one is comfortable at those weights - it gets even hard to cut the mass down.

arnolds bio has him listed at 5'11...i met him at an arnold classic,i am 6'0 and i was wearing flip flops.arnold was wearing boots and he was not taller then me.trust me he is not 6'2,and never has been.

Arnold is 6'2... hes old now man, hes shrunk ... this isnt pro wrestling, they dont exagerate height, watch pumping iron, buy his book, look everywhere except where you saw this Arnie is 6'2.

yeah im 6'3 and its very hard to add on mass....ive been training my legs hard now for a while and they are still skinny it suxs

im about 5'9...when i was lighter/younger i was told i was too tall for bodybuilding,lanky..but now that im finally filling my frame out a little, at 195 and 7-8% i look a tad shorter =0)

toney freeman is what like 6'3? i saw him 2 weekends ago at the NPC anna level..guy looked amazing, and filled out. But like the above said, 5'8"-5'10" is perfect for bb;ing

Bro,
Have you actually been to a show and seen the height of most BBers? I think you're a little misguided here. Most pro's are extremely short. You're looking in the range of 5'6 - 6ft.

I always thought it was the other way around. Shorter the better as you pack in more mass.

well then arnold has shrunk 3 inches because he was shorter then me...and they do exagerate there stats!...i read all the muscle mags, flex, muscle and fitness, ironman, musclemag, musclemedia, etc, etc, and i have seen arnold stats listed in those mags at 3 different heights...i have also been to the hard rock cafe and they have a life size poster display of arnold,he was no where near 6'2...they even exagerate there bicep measurements.

dont get we wrong i think arnold was awsome!...one of the greatest upper bodies ever!...but he was not as big as most would think...he even competed under 200lbs one time during his prime.

arnold is 6 2. louie is 6 5, those are the only guys that looked awesome at that height imo. 5 10 is perfect brotha. 6 3 and a half over here and as you can see mass is an issue with my long frame. makavelli i'd kill a small village for your build so no complaining.

arnold is commonly mis concepted as being like 6 5 or more cause he is so big. but he is 6 2
http://imdb.com/name/nm0000216/bio
though in some cases this site is off, they get sued for fucking with shit usually. louie is 6 5 no doubt and he is not much taller than arnold. and i hate saying i met celebs cause its cheesey but they were both at a bbing show in vegas. louie bent a metal bar and took a pic for my boy jordan with it. he looks unreal btw. arnie is 6 2 for sure, no doubt about it. if he were 5 10 i would have been looking down on him, i'm 6 3 he was right near my height. this was way before he was governor, my first trip to vegas about 99 or 2000

5'10 is not too short for bbing. All those guys are short. I'm 6'4 and even when I et upwards of 270-280 lean, I still don't look that big! Go for it bro.

As for Arnold, he is 6'2. He is around 60, I'm sure he shrunk over the years. Watch pumping iron, he looks tall even standing next to Louie who IS 6'5 (one of the main reasons he got the hulk part). If Arnold was 5'10 or 5'11, he would have looked like a shrimp next to Lou.

actually im glad im 5'6 (maybe 5'9-5'11 would be a bit better) coz at 180 i look pretty jacked, while i know some 6'3 guys that are 290+ and even though they tower over me, they dont look as jacked as i do and im sure in a bbing show they cant touch me.

"july 2002 us weekly magazine article"

while arnold sharzenegger's height has been believed to be 6ft2,he is actually 5ft10.but his spokespeople now publicly give his height as being 6ft even.assuming arnolds height was ever close to 6ft2,it is possible he may have shrunk slightly with age.although shrinking 4 inches seems to much for a man only in his fifties.

this was taken right out of us weekly magazine.he was interviewed by them in person.

flex magazine also lists arnold as 5ft10.

arnold is known for wearing cowboy boots with very large heals also, so think about it?

lol before i opened the thread i thought you were going to say your to tall for bb

I want to enter my first Competition next spring and am still bulking and making great gains, but I am 6'6" and Louie is the only realguy I can use as a guide to how I would "want" to look.

he looked AMAZING in the early 90's when he made a comeback at the Mr.O at a ripped 300lbs.

I am SO self concious about my height and I just hope I have the SAC to compete.

You won't know unless you do it. The cool thing about BB is that you bring first what God gave you, and then what you did with it. You rarely get exactly "the look" that you want, or additionally "the look" the judges are looking for, on your first competition. Usually you do your first competition for yourself -- then once you've stripped away all that "first time" stuff, you start to focus on specific areas that might be lagging, improve & refine your diet & training from whatever you learned from the first time around, etc.

being very tall doesnt mean you cant compete...but it will be hard to fill out your frame like a guy 5ft10 or 5ft11...and the taller guys dont seem to have that full muscle belly look that thickness...but lou did it,he had great genetics for a tall man...quincy taylor is a tall huge guy,but put him next to ronnie or cutler and he cant compete at all with there physics...i wouldnt let it stop you though!...with hard work and determination you can accomplish your goal!
