American League East battle: Boston versus Toronto

Coming off a 5-2 loss last time out, Toronto can redeem themselves and get back on the winning track Tuesday at Boston.

The Blue Jays start Josh Towers, 0-1, 7.71 ERA. His last trip was a loss, a 13-4 team loss against the Twins, when he threw 4 2/3 innings, allowing 5 runs on 10 hits.

Toronto takes its 3-3 mark to Boston to battle the 5-1 Red Sox today.

The Blue Jays know Boston will be looking to prove oddsmakers, who made them home underdogs, made a mistake in this one. Boston is 5-1, while the Blue Jays are 3-3. The total opened at 9.5.

The Blue Jays come off a 5-2 loss against the Devil Rays, a game where they were favorites. The game went under the closing total of 8.

Terry Francona's team was busy last game winning against Baltimore 4-1 as pick. The 5 runs sent that game under the total of 10.

Don't expect Boston to beat themselves at the plate by striking out a lot. The selective Red Sox batters are in the top three in the league, fanning just 5.2 times per game.
TOR: J. Towers (0-1, 7.71)
BOS: J. Beckett (1-0, 1.29)
