NY Islanders (31-31-4) at Tampa Bay (35-28-4) 5:00 pm EST
TAMPA, Florida (Ticker) -- The New York Islanders are slowly reaching the desperation mode in their bid to make the playoffs.
Wrapping up a five-game road trip, the Islanders try to avoid a season series sweep to the defending Stanley Cup champion Tampa Bay Lightning when the teams meet Sunday.
New York has split the first four games of the trip and is tied with Toronto for 10th place in the Eastern Conference, five points in back of Montreal for the final postseason berth.
Miroslav Satan scored twice and the Islanders committed just two minor penalties in their second straight defeat, a 4-2 loss to the Florida Panthers.
After winning two of their last three contests, the Lightning are seventh in the East with a three-point edge over the Canadiens and a two-point lead on New Jersey.
Rookie Ryan Craig registered his first two-goal game and Vincent Lecavalier scored his 31st tally for Tampa Bay, which posted its eighth consecutive regular season victory over the Philadelphia Flyers with Friday's 6-3 win.
Looking for their first sweep of the Islanders in 11 years, the Lightning have taken the last six encounters, including a 3-2 overtime triumph February 6. Martin St. Louis had the game-winner in the extra session.
