Can you get one with a manual transmission? If not, then "yawn".

Shiftronic

Can you get a manual in the other models tested

Accord and Mazda6 I think so.

Of course the Fusion IS a Mazda6.

Flappy paddle shifters aren't manual transmissions.

Isn't the Fusion made in Mexico?

Accord's made in Ohio.

The Ford Fusion (code name CD338) is a mid-size car produced by the Ford Motor Company since the 2006 model year.

The Fusion is manufactured at Ford's Hermosillo Stamping & Assembly plant in Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico, where the similar Mercury Milan and Lincoln MKZ are also built. All three cars are based on the CD3 platform shared with Mazda's Mazda6 (M/Y 2003-2008)[1] and were launched simultaneously into the market (the MKZ as the Zephyr).

***"Buy American" indicates the location of the parent companies HQ, e.g. where the buck stops.

"Comparison Test: Accord vs Malibu vs Fusion vs Mazda6 vs Sonata" Edmunds Daily

This really wasn't close. The Ford Fusion Sport scored either first or second in every subjective scoring category.QUOTE]

the key word here is "subjective".

edmunds has a long history of relying more on number crunching than actual driving impressions.

although ford has improved their small car light years in quality and deisireability since the escort days of the '80's, the fusion is still a dull "bean counter" car.

when the REAL car magazines, such as "car & driver", "automobile" and/or "road & track" decare the fusion the winner in this crowd.....then i may believe it is the better car of this very good group.
