I'll keep this quick.. I'm looking to gain 20-25lbs of muscle by December.. I weigh 165 so I'd be about 180 at Xmas time.. Any overall advice? My diet is set, I have
Above maintenance calories obviously lol.. But training wise any advice? I have most of my excersises down pat. but any overall advice for reps/sets or certain excersises? Squats and deadlifts are definatly included in my workouts.. I need 250bs of muscle by December but I know I'm gonna gain some water and fat during this bulk.. My lean mass is about 140 I'm looking to get it to 160-165 before I start cutting

that type of muscle mass increase in that short a time frame would harly be possible even if you did steroids 4 months straight

but generally for a beginner try to read up on general beginner training like "starting strength" or "the strongest shall survive"

starting strength can be found easily all over the internet and will teach you more than any brief forum reply

good luck

You've already started one thread about this, http://www.elitefitness.com/forum/weight-training-weight-lifting/3-4-month-mass-build-765001.html. Just use the advice that was given there. 5X5 programs and those similar to it (as recommended) are definitely a good starting point.

Either way, it is highly impractical for you to gain on average what would be 8 lbs of muscle per month. As many of the guys on here will tell you, weightlifting is a style of life and getting the body you want won't happen overnight (or in the 3 months to December)!

Like ramnares said bro. SL 5x5 is a hell of a starting point for anybody looking to gain solid mass fast. However I think that your goals are a bit outside the realm of reality for most of us anyway....

unless he teams up with phil heath of course :D

just kidding, like i said try to read up on this stuff as much as possible OP, it will take away so many questions and doubts you have

good books to read:

*the strongest shall survive
*brawn
*starting strength

good luck OP, i think the stronglifts that is recommended is nearly identical to glenn pendley/bill star/mark rippetoe routines

but by all means, do not just read the workout and stop educating yourself there. you will need to learn a lot more if you're going at this without a coach
