11/3 NHL: Anaheim at Colorado

The Avalanche can build on their recent win against the Canucks Thursday when they host the Mighty Ducks at Pepsi Center.

Colorado brings a 6-4-1 overall mark (5-2-0 in the division) into this game versus an Anaheim team carrying a 7-5-1 record.

Defence may play a big role in this one, but that's mainly because experts don't think much of it will be played. Oddsmakers opened the total on the high side, a huge 6.5. That will require lots of offence - and porous defence - to surpass.

The Mighty Ducks come off a 4-1 win against the Predators, a game where they were an 110 favorites. The game went under the closing total of 6.

Joel Quenneville's troops were at home against the Canucks last game and came away with a 4-3 win, a game that went over 6.5. Oddsmakers had them as 115 money line favorites in that one.

Expect the league's #2 offence to pot some goals and generate trouble for the Mighty Ducks defence. Averaging 4.5 goals per game, the Avalanche can run up the score if they get on a roll.
