I would just use groups of 3 in which the combined odds for the 3 equals the other groups.
so with a little thought each group would have a favorite,a middle odds driver and a long shot
9 groups of 3

So you'd pick say the top 27 guys?

It'd be hard. There would also have ato be an option for "none of these 27 guys will win" which would be the biggest payoff.

I still think the best bet is to concentrate on the Chase drivers.

here's a good one: what will be the margin of victory (between 1st and 2nd) for the NEXTEL Cup? Straight up O/U, or like 10 or less, 10-25, 26-50, 50+?
