This is why I'm not a big fan of non-BCS conferences whining about not getting a shot. When they do play a main conference team 95% of them lose.

You've got Cincy going 10-2 then losing to VT. Ball State finishing 12-0 at #12 then losing to Buffalo and Tulsa. Boise State going 12-0 then losing to TCU. 10-2 BYU losing to AZ in a bowl.

Play a full schedule of physical teams where guys get injured then finish with a bowl win. I'm a bowl guy so I don't care if there's playoffs or not.
