ST. PAUL, Minnesota (Ticker) -- Having chased the Detroit Red Wings for most of the season, the Nashville Predators can finally slip by them in the Central Division race.

The Predators try to win their fourth straight contest Thursday when they visit the Minnesota Wild, who seek their first five-game winning streak in Wild franchise history.

Nashville began the week three points behind Detroit before defeating the Red Wings on consecutive nights. The Predators can take sole possession of first place with a win and loss by Detroit against Vancouver.

Paul Kariya scored a goal in his third consecutive game when he netted the game-winner in overtime to lead Nashville in Tuesday's 2-1 triumph over Detroit. The win raised the Predators' mark to 6-0-3 in their last nine outings.

Although they have a four-game winning streak, the Wild remain in last place in the Northwest Division, despite being three games above .500.

Brian Rolston scored twice for the second straight game and Marian Gaborik added his 16th goal for Minnesota in Tuesday's 3-2 victory over the Phoenix Coyotes.

Nashville, which is winless in its last six visits to Minnesota, is looking to avenge a 4-2 loss to the Wild on November 19. Kurtis Foster scored twice for Minnesota.
