Who will have the most all purpose yards in the Rose Bowl ?

it would be cool if you "playas" bet early so I can stay afloat till the worm turns
or on dec 20th when I collect my 84000 like everyone else

I think Vince is favored because as a QB he gets passing yards too
actaully that's obvious

What the hell I like the odd's for Bush. When you say all purpose I'm assuming return yards as well?

then again vince could get sacked a lot by the vaunted USC D and have some negatory yardage

Why are the odds 3/2 for Bush?? It should be 3/2 for Vince Young

All-purpose yards = rushing, receiving , punt return and kickoff return. Quarterback passing yards don't count
you're right
I can't find the odds listing now to check if I made an error
too late anyhow

That's still not a safe bet regardless... Reggie Bush may get the Willis Mcgahee treatment (meaning he gets hit in the knee and 2 or 3 of the ligaments tear). As you should know , Heisman trohpy winners (in recent history) generally choke after being given the award.
penn state back in the day used to regularly defeat the heisman winner's team in a bowl game
most notably Herschel Walker's bulldogs in '82 for the crown
chas white
other's I'll have to research
heath shuler I think
vinny T perhaps

Can't remember if Vinny got the Heismann or not, but he got his ass whooped that day.

18. 1986 Vinny Testaverde, QB Miami
Runner-up: Paul Palmer, RB Temple
Testaverde led the 'Canes to the Fiesta Bowl where they lost to Penn State. He lit up number one Oklahoma for four touchdown passes and threw for 2,557 yards, 26 touchdowns and nine interceptions with a 165.8 passer rating. Remember, Heismans are decided before bowl games.

19. 1979 Charles White, RB USC
Runner-up: Billy Sims, RB Oklahoma
The ultimate workhorse, White averaged 194 yards per game, leading USC to the Rose Bowl and a 10-0-1 record.

Jan. 1, 1982 -- Kicking off on New Year's Day for the first time, the Fiesta Bowl is a resounding success with a sellout crowd of 71,053 on hand for a matchup between Penn State and Southern Cal. Penn State slips past USC and Heisman Trophy winner Marcus Allen, 26-10, in a game that recorded a 19.3 rating, still the second highest in Fiesta Bowl history.

I think I'm wrong about charles white
it wasn't a bowl game defeat
might have been just a regular game
in any event in a six year period PSU beat 3 heisman winners and got two crowns

So is the passing yards going to be included or is it just rushing/punt/kickoff?

passing is of course included..

look it up if you dont believe me
you will never see a qb near the top in all purpose yds, they are running backs and wrs that lead that stat
can vince young outrush reggie?
hell yes that can happen

we'll have to see
if Vince Young is running the ball alot then
1. his recievers are not catching passes
2. running backs are not carrying the ball

Which means USC defense is all over them and he has no choice but to take it... This won't be good for Texas, but we'll see

That won't be good for Texas if so

Bush had 101 kick/punt return yards, 80 yards rushing, 94 yards receiving

Young had 200 yards rushing, and 267 passing.

And I checked all the major betting sites, here is the definition of all purpose yards:

Who will have the most all purpose yards in the Rose Bowl ?
Passing, Rushing, Receiving, and Returning Yards included. Players must play for action.

The odds were .50 for vince young only because he got BOTH passing and rushing yards.. otherwise there would have been no way for bush to even compete unless it was straight rushing vs rushing.

All purpose = ALL purpose... in 2001 the NCAA excluded FUMBLE return yards only.

Passing yards don't count as all-purpose yards, go fly a kite.
you'll be flying the kite when 4ever settles this one

look at the odds, ifs painfully obvious that the passing yards are INCLUDED when calculating those odds.. did you really think it was ONLY Vince Young's rushing yardage stacked up against RECEVING, RUSHING, and KICK RETURN YARDS of Bush?? The odds would be .25 to BUSH and 3.0 to young if that was the case.

for the sake of redguru and any other tools who didn't read the fucking bet

again, for anyone familiar with betting, check the LAST bet on this page to see the same prop bet with the same odds.. it specifically includes passing yardage.. hence the odds.

Look up any statistic for all purpose yards in the NCAA, it never includes passing. The NCAA does not include passing in the all-purpose yard statistic.

That's Section Five, Article 3 on page 30 for the visually and intellectually impaired.

"Article 3. All-purpose running is the combined net yards gained by
rushing, receiving, interception returns, punt returns, kickoff returns and
runbacks of field goal attempts. All-purpose running does not include forward
passing yardage."

I always check my bookie sites when I am unclear, especially when there are very big odds differences such as this one.. its obvious from the odds that the passing yards were to be included in Vince Young's total.

I will expect this bet to be settled just as it is on the popular gambling sites.

I'll pay off both
You're a straight up dude man. I was pretty much resigned to losing my 3000 but the payoff is cool. Thanks for hosting that shit, you coulda lost yer ass and all the smack talk was a blast.

On a side note I can still remember betting 10 karma and hoping I didn't lose it lol. I'm sure I'll be there again.

thanks 4ever.

This was a tough one, I agree that as defined by the NCAA "all purpose" yards does not include passing, but it is obvious that for the purposes of this bet they were to be incluced in Vince Young's total.
