Yep. Should clear up the heavyweight rankings by either solidifying Fedor's reign at #1 or making a Nog/Randy battle at #1. Not to mention im excited as hell for this fight and its been needing to happen for years.
Kazushi Sakuraba vs. Royler Gracie
-classic match and started a huge rivalry between Sakuraba and the Gracies.
-also shows a great example of what shin conditioning can do for you.
Yea that sucks for Riggs- What's weird is that he kept gaining weight when he tried to cut. I hope this doesn't make the fight less intense now since it's suddenly not for the title.
P.S. Mike I couldn't help myself from staring at your avatar for like a minute straight
Here's an interesting part of an article about boxers vs karate:
"Of course, the best boxers can punch as quickly and powerfully as any black belt. Why can't they break concrete blocks too? The answer lies in the nature of their punches. When a boxer throws his fist, he usually ends the...
Wow great fight. Luke definitely surprised me with his defensive ground game. He should've also got a contract with joe like they did with griffin and bonner.
Yea Jorge did alright the first round, I was just expecting him to be more explosive or something... He had it won too when he got the naked choke on Jason. I have no idea how he got out of it, it looked like blood was being squeezed out of his head.
Of course any person with some form of strength can break through a board and breaking it by accident has nothing to do with boxers. But the question asked was if boxers can punch through boards(plural) and he also referred to breaking them as easily as a karate master could like they show on...
My guess would be no. Boxers train to dodge punches and throw combinations rather than focus all of their energy on one punch. Breaking a board requires extreme mental power which is what martial arts like karate focus on; something most boxing clubs do not.
Hmmm that's an interesting point. A lot of people forget about Kazushi Sakuraba who defeated almost all of the Gracies not long ago. However when I searched what style he used it just says Japanese wrestling so I assume that is close to Japanese JJ. So maybe Japanese JJ is BJJ's weakness but...
What I mean is why do all the UFC and most Pride Fighters focus on BJJ instead of Japanese JJ. I never hear of it any more but I know it used to be much better than BJJ in a one on one fight. My guess is BJJ evolved more or it's just better in a MMA competition while maybe Japanese JJ is...
I agree that muay thai is probably good if you want to learn how to fight well with only a few years of training. But for the long run karate or other japanese martial arts will make you a much more dangerous fighter. A 5th to 10th degree black belt is EXTREMELY dangerous and their bodies are...
