    I couldn't Karma hit you on the comment about pedophiles ... I know at least two people who were molested as children. Neither of them are pedos but they're what I call "damaged goods." It's so difficult to overcome your normal, everyday dysfunctional childhood, sex abuse, particularly from your parent, takes things to a whole other level.

    I believe pedophilia, like any other horrific crime, is sort of a combination of nature/nuture. They are born loaded guns, the abuse gives them the bullets.

    It's just what the nursing schools out here want. There is so much competition to get in over here that not only am I getting that cert, I'm going to get one in phlebotomy too. I figure if I have proven experience then I will have a better chance at getting in.

    I didn't make any of that up. The verses I quoted obviously weren't made up, the Greek word I said was mistranslated is exactly what I said (it's documented), the Levitical laws really don't matter for this, and in regard to the passage Plunkey and I were arguing over, I think it takes more for someone to stretch that to include homosexual love than it does for me to point out it doesn't mention homosexual love at all (bc it doesn't).

I believe/hope someday people are going to look back at these people like "wow, I can't believe they interpreted that from those words" like we look back at people who quoted the Bible in support of slave owners or Nazis. *sigh*

    Ahhh, well, the reality ... yes, they're immature, but they've always been that way. They're not changing, we are *sigh*

    We're getting older, our priorities have changed and with them, perceptions. It's why people stop listening to really current music and start listening to the oldies station. My local oldies station used to play music "FROM THE 60s, 70s and BEYOND." I was born in the 60s ... now it's "FROM THE 80s, 90s and BEYOND." I realized, OMG, I've become THAT generation :worried: They no longer play the music I was born to they now play the music I was dating to ...

    I have a son who is nearly 27, which means he's OLDER than most of the young men posting on this site (my stepdaughter is nearly 23 and my stepson is 20). Granted, I had my son when I was 19, but that doesn't change the fact I'm the age of or older than a LOT of the moms of many regular posters :whatever: And let's be honest, we all know what it's like to think of people of our parents age/generation being sexual beings *shudder* I'm sure a lot of these kids imagine a 46 year old woman and her 57 year old husband getting down and dirty and they envision a lot of wrinkles, gray hair and someone needing oxygen.

    When I was 21, 57 seemed impossibly old ... now my husband is that age and he's no kid, but I look at 20 somethings and I think "In few decades you'll ripen up a little, but now you're just green and flavorless."

    I'm honestly not upset with you...I was more taken aback by smurfy's comment, but even that I kind of understand. I can't hold it against people for being wary about that sort of thing, it's not easy to deal with - I'M not always easy to deal with. But I wish the stigma were not against the taking of the meds...at least people who take meds are trying to do something about it (though I do believe a lot of people in psychiatry see meds as a be all end all cure, where I see it as something that should get you up just enough to where you can do the rest of the work on your own). I've known a lot of people who self medicated with drugs, alcohol, other variations of acting out and I know some people won't get the help they need because of that stigma.

    Anyway, not meaning to get preachy, just wanted you to know I wasn't angry with you.

    Sorry, but your mom gave you a piece of bad advice. The WORST thing you can do is marry someone different from you. You can have different interests (that's superficial) but for a relationship to succeed long term you have to have shared ethics/morals/philosophy.

    Pared down, I've always said "dog people should not marry cat people, and mountain people should not marry ocean people."

That stealing the life of another (murder) would in some way ADD to their life. Like Elizabeth Bathory believing that the blood of young women would extend her youth.
