Some things government can't fix....from the 1970's...since the federal government established the Department of Education in the late 1970's under Carter the scores of US students have dropped internationally....and has stagnated or fallen under "no child left behind."

Uh, I've heard that when our scores in the U.S. are compared to those abroad where they do tracking into low end (technical) vs high end (college prep) schools that they compare our average against the average of their HIGH END schools. Then, on the other hand, I heard we still suck when compared to their LOW end schools. Hard to say which is overall more true. But, when I look at the high school students I know compared to those I witnessed abroad, ours are lazy lazy lazy unless it's something in it for them like their part-time Mac D's job or their sport. And, teachers are very very nice to students so they remain childish and whiney and "soft" at older and older ages. How are they ever going to survive in the real world where there are bosses who have no problem cussing them out when they screw up? I'm pretty harsh with my daughter because I want her to be strong, yet be compassionate.
 
Who cares. Our kids are #1 at attention whoring, partying, smoking weed and knowing everything about Linday Lohan, Jersey Shore and American Idol. That's all that matters - sheesh!

I went to public school in CR, California and in NJ, I canb say the best education was in CR HOWEVER I feel that American education fails because students get to pick their classes, hence many kids take good classes to get accepted to a good college and most kids take the easy rode and do the simple classes, if there were a stable set curriculum as per classes it would probably be better, kids shouldnt chose their classes, they're kids for pete's sake!
 
It's fear inducing for about 10 minutes then it passes.

Our jobs will be outsourced through technology where a body isn't required. And even where a body is needed like porn stars, they don't have to be AMERICAN porn stars. Be afraid for our children...for 10 minutes at least.

I went to public school too. Spent less per pupil than the state average and exceeded exam expectations..so I went to a "good" public school but I excelled in college.

translation: we are a nation of service jobs. Any job that is service-oriented (cops, bartender, cashier, teacher) will be here. Anything else: ripe for outsourcing!

LOL- Oh, they still can be, but the competition will be incredible! I'm sure Indian and Chinese poon will be .01 and Eastern European poon .50 to the American $1 poon. ha.

And except for maybe bartending, each of those service jobs pay crap! Be afraid again, for another 10 minutes until it passes...
 
If you apply yourself you can get a quality education irregardless of the short cumings of the public school system.

I've never understood the Asian fetish thing. Don't get me wrong -- there are some crazy hot Asian wimminz. But some guys go for any girl who has a streak of Asian, regardless of other attributes. I guess I'll need to file the along with the ripped black guys who go for chubby white wimminz. WTF is up with that???!!!???

Honestly I THINK that maybe it hsa to do with the innocent Lolita look, they look cute sweet and innocent, hence the idea of whoring them up with teh cawk is appealing....

True, but truckloads of guys like 'em young. Not criminally young -- just the spring that comes in the step of the 18-25 crowd.

But I definitely see your point about Asians looking younger than their non-asian counterparts.
